Bad example, your statement implies those things happened as part of a story as opposed to him randomly showing up in the background of some event because a writer didn't do their research and their editor didn't stop them.

Marvel doesn't care about continuity and hasn't for ages.

The best we can ever hope for these days is that some individual writer who does care comes along to explain someone else's plot hole.

No, this was actually in a story arc where the Thunderbolts went to Hell and deposed Strong Guy in favor of Mephisto.

You're only saying that because it doesn't fit your narrative.

But it is fact that we saw Mephisto reclaiming his throne from Strong Guy on panel, so not that wasn't a bad example. You using it as an example of continuity error was, mainly because it wasn't.

Maybe he ran out of cash and the casino threw him out once he couldn't place bets anymore. I know someone who had that happen to them, he was trapped only until he ran out of cash.

This reminds me that One More Day came out in 2007 and for over a decade we have been in this state of limbo as the events and the "deal" made back then have still yet to be resolved but neither have they been retconned away completely. We just keep getting these spooky reminders that Mephisto is the skeleton in the Spider-man coat closet.

Thus I feel in Mephisto's final line here he's talking to us personally.
