That doesn't excuse him being an abusive insecure prick.
I mean the first issue posted here went out of its way to make sure I would feel no sympathy for the guy. And whatever Mutant kid actually ultimately is, I'm pretty sure locking him in the barn and having his brother feed him rancid meat for six years probably didn't help mold him into a better person (See, I'm pretty firmly on the nurture side of Nature v. Nurture). I mean, realistic goals its probably home schooling for this kid, but there's no reason giant fire breathing boy couldn't be a productive member of society with a little TLC.
Oh, no argument there. Clearly kindness from the older brother has resulted in the kid feeling affection and playfulness, so a loving upbringing probably would have worked wonders even if fitting him into society would have been a struggle. And he apparently didn't manifest dragon breath powers or a dangerous level of physical force until the Dad hurt his brother, so he wouldn't be just randomly incinerating stuff by accident.
Exactly, he doesn't set out to hurt his Mom or his brother, neither of whom have hurt him. If he'd been raised by his mother, inside the house, treated as a person rather than a monster, from the start, imagine how normal, even with the odd appearance, he could have been. He's basically just an abused kid.
