Yeah and next issue has them activating the machine only for it to backfire and Edison goes "come on, you think I didn't know she was on your side from the start?" as it explodes and he escapes.

There actually was a time when Millar's "shock twists" couldn't be telegraphed four issues in advance.

Its hard to wrap my mind around a society that is advanced enough to cross dimensions and time travel, but have run out of resources because they stripped mined the earth.

The resources in this solar system alone are enormous and certainly seem easier to access than breaking through time barriers of reality itself.

So like, here's my problem with this premise, if I'm reading this right. This guy came to our Earth like 5000 years ago, realized he couldn't accomplish his goals, and set in motion a millenia spanning plan dependent on his single bloodline keeping the faith and understanding the plan literally instead of it like, morphing it into a religion or something. And at the same time this premise depends on his Earth being in such a bad state that they needed to cross dimensions for resources, but also not so bad that it wouldn't be just fine for several thousand years and also that they'd be totally down with coming in contact with the weird descendants of this guy who for some reason feel no affection for the Earth which they've spent their entire lives on.

Am I following this correctly?

So that was my first thought as well. But re-reading it appears that he actually traveled backwards in time crossing the dimensional rift. So he is 5,000 years in both our past AND his past.

So as long as his idiot plan comes to fruition in 5,000 years or less he is golden. Actually I guess if he finished soon enough there won't be any need for him to be sent through the dimensional barrier alone, as a bridge will exist.

Just from these scans, other than him actually travelling to the past (so the bad guys in the other Earth aren't actually waiting the whole time) I'd say yes.

Maybe his dimension just needs the bridge foundation to exist somewhen in this dimension?
