While not crazy we're continuing the "Old Man" arcs, do like the idea that to the rest of the universe, Earth being taken over by the bad guys isn't a major newsworthy event.
Oh yeah, Old Woman Laura, where the villains tried the uber epic 'team up and murder heroes by the hundred, plunging the world into post-apocalyptic nonsense' routine, and lost. Badly. Because the heroes are better than them. Better organised, more competent, braver, smarter, loyal, etc and so on. I like that one.
As so many pointed out, the problem with the "all the villains work together" bit is how it's pretty damn impossible to get a few thousand twisted crooks and absolute sociopaths to become a cohesive unit.
I remember in "Crisis on Infinite Earths," Brainiac openly notes that while the villain army may outnumber the heroes five to one "they fight as a unit while our forces are reluctant to trust each other and divided."
I suddenly remember a Black Panther storyline where Doom talks of how he once used his time platform to explore about a thousand possible futures. And the only one where Earth wasn't a dystopia or outright destroyed was the one where Doom rules.
Well, given the last panel of this comic I think Doom might have been mistaken there.
Besides which, Researcher's bias is a thing, and I don't trust Doom to be objective in his research. Since there are infinite parallel worlds, a thousand is a drop in the bucket. Doom could have easily cherry picked futures that were shitty, then found the one where he ruled that was kind of sort of okay.
You know, I don't know why it didn't occur to me that this "Old Man" series was in the same continuity as the others, but I didn't and 'Planet of the Apes' ending was somewhat amusing.
Marvel space languages continue to be baloney, though. "WHERE DID WE LAND?" "...how do you not know that but still speak English?"
