You know, for a series about evolution, X-Men is very repetitive. Shadow King never stays dead. David Haller always gets crazy. Xavier will always go back to his wheelchair, no matter how many times he's cured. And let's not get started about Jean Grey / Phoenix / Rachel / Hope / Madelyne / Teen Jean.
Then again, most Marvel & DC series are like that.
How about, "it will always be necessary to rebel against authority, and eventually the authority against whom we must rebel will be the leader we followed up until now"? That beat keeps coming back.
Here's an idea: Instead of taking the first five X-Men out of time, take the McAvoy / Fassbender version of Charles and Erik from about 1962 when they were road-tripping in Israel together.
