This certainly seems to underline the focus on Harley Quinn as the de facto main character, but it's got some personality at least. The photoshop does look a little rough though, which is such a weirdly common issue with superhero movie posters.
Based on the imagery and the tagline here, I'm going to guess (half-seriously) that the whole movie takes place in Harley's mind. And that she'll realize it around the midpoint.
God, I wish we could have gotten a real Birds of Prey movie that took advantage of the classic Oracle/Black Canary/Huntress dynamic... a superhero spy thriller with Oracle running the show from behind the scenes.
Of course, in my ideal world, Oracle would be introduced gradually over the course of multiple DC movies as the unseen voice, the ultimate hacker, the source of information. Hint at them being a former hero retired for unknown reasons. That way, when she's finally revealed, it's a surprise and a payoff.
Mind you, I'd also like to see a Bat-franchise that brings in the whole family for one gloriously intense adventure.
At least this seems to be skipping Jared Leto's Joker.
Given she's the only character who's appeared in a movie before I can see her being a bit of a focus for marketing, but since the movie she appeared in was pretty bloody awful, I'm not sure it's the route I'd have gone.
And making the other characters too small to actually make out the faces of properly is just bizarre.
As someone on Instagram pointed out, at least it's different than the stock "Photoshop as many characters doing heroic poses as possible" format for these type of films.
I wonder if I'd be less hostile to this film if the subtitle was the main title, and the BoP were never mentioned. I think if that were the case I'd have more hope of getting a proper Birds film, with Babs, later on...

Date: 2019-09-18 03:53 pm (UTC)I don't hate the overall composition (I mean, just as a standalone image), but the photoshopping of all the tiny 'other' characters is not great.
