For those who have the Shudder streaming service there's a new anthology series based off 'Creepshow'. Tomorrow's episode is an adaptation of the following comic. A small clip is available here.

This was from Twisted Tales #1.

The story opens with a couple of high schoolers about to go trick or treating. One of them, Binky, an overweight kid in a devil costume, says they're getting too old for this. He decides to go to a neighbor's house despite not being one their preplanned 'route'.

I always love seeing this one, it's one of my favorites. It's just beautifully horrible in it's conclusion and leaves open so many questions (What did happen to the family that tried to escape? Why are these particular kids motivated to exact revenge?) while still functioning perfectly as a tight, contained story that doesn't need to answer those questions to work.

I might have to look into that adaptation because I'm curious how a TV adaptation would necessarily expand on this short story.

I just watched it. It was mostly faithful (Bruce Jones wrote the script) with a few changes.

One change that annoyed me was Eddie was a much older teen as opposed to a little kid which makes the story considerably less dark.

There weren’t a whole lot of major changes but it did kind of answer the questions you asked that the comic didn’t so I guess it depends on how you feel about that.

I dunno, I agree up to a point about it being darker if he's younger, but Eddie should be older, because it's been at least five years since the "trigger event" and he's grown up since then.

I thought i made a very, very major change at the end, which changes to tone of much of what has preceded.

What would make for an interesting sequel is if, next year, Skeeter shows up waiting at the gate again. So who are they supposed to kill this time? Or were they ever supposed to kill anyone in the first place?
