Telling Doom to "give it up" is just silly.
As brilliant as he is, Doom simply can't imagine a course of action that involves him conceding defeat, even if it's just a temporary loss in order to live to fight another day. Doom is nothing if not stubborn.

Uh, what? Doom beats Taskmaster in hand-to-hand combat and then stabs a sword into MODOK's armoured chair? Is this going to grow into Red Hulk versions of silliness, Doom fighting a procesion of super-villains?

While I have no problem envisioning Doom taking down Taskmaster easily in dozens of ways, a brawl that concludes by throwing a round shield at him is NOT one of those ways. Doesn't the latter have Captain America's moves memorized?
