Don Rosa & superheroes!
Jan. 15th, 2020 11:53 pmA few months ago, I was lucky enough to meet Don Rosa at Lucca Comics & Games, and bought a couple of prints from him. They were parodies of superhero covers! Turns out he has a whole line if those :D
I thought of posting them here. I took pictures of the ones I own (apologies for the weird angle, I had the posters framed, so the reflection of the light on glass kept ruining the pictures) and found the rest on the internet.
The first one is just a normal parody, not based on any cover. It's also my personal favourite ^_^

Next are the actual covers!

Date: 2020-01-16 06:27 pm (UTC)It's always super disappointing when a creator you immensely respect for their wonderful work, is stubbornly close-minded about entire genres. The whole "superheroes don't feel like real people because they only fight, never express emotions" thing was just... like... Don, I love you, but when the hell was the last time you read a superhero comic?
I guess it might be bitterness over the way the American audience stubbornly sees Duck comics as childish garbage, even though stories like The Life And Times are masterpieces.
I was especially disappointed that IDW had to stop publishing PKNA in the USA due to low sales. That comic is fantastic, but people refused to take it seriously because it stars Donald Duck.
