It's set between the first game in the series - 2064 - and the upcoming Neurodiver.
It opens on Lexi Rivers, doing her job.
(Some spoilers for 2064, under the cut.)

(She's pursuing her post-2064 career in private investigation in California.)

Back at home, that robot came to her again.
" I'm Hedy. I need to hire you.
" My, uhh.. significant other has gone missing. "
She turned away: " I'm sorry. I don't help love-bots during their search-and-rescue playthroughs. "
Hedy begged: " Wouldn't you try anything for someone you lo-
" .. someone you.. love? "

(This is following from 2064's best-case " all the robots get sapience " ending, the canon one.)
Lexi agreed to take Hedy's case: " You're lucky I have a manageable client load. "
She let Hedy out, then changed into clothes for breaking and entering.
She broke and entered into the apartment of Hedy's missing partner, John.
" I can scour this place some more, but I know what I'll find..

" .. and clear my head. "
She made her way down to The Crimson Bar, dropping in for a talk.
She posited a hypothetical to Mahita the bartender.
" You're a robot. You're fully sapient.
" You're born smarter than humans..
" .. why would you want our flaws? "
" Nobody's above envy, I suppose. "
" So you think even robots are stupid enough to want love? "
" I feel like you're trying to ask me if I believe something without a heart can love..

" I get a smoke break in a sec.
" Meet me out back for a quick snog? All in the sake of ' field research. ' "
" I'm on the clock, but- "
Lexi finished her drink, then stepped out back.

A fist hurtled into her face.
A pair of arms caught and threw her.
" Have fun visiting the South Side today? "

She got to her feet, alone.
