A couple of examples of the clout that Dick Grayson has earned both as Robin and Nightwing.
From the non-toon based Brave and the Bold series, #15 starred Nightwing and Hawkman
When Dick says jump, people don't even wait to ask "How high?"
Consider how many heroes and hero teams are represented here..

Every single one of them is following Dick's lead simply because he is the one that asked.

Of course it WAS all a bluff (But what a bluff!!), to get the heroes offworld before a demon who can kill anyone and anything by simple contact, and then possesses the bodies of the dead (with all their powers and skills) can spread his influence across the world.
Of course, with Hawkman, Nightwing and Deadman on the case, eventually the demon is defeated, and and his captive, Green Arrow, released, and it's GA who summarises Dick's achievement in this case.

Say what you like, when every hero in the combined incarnations of the JLA, JSA, Titans, Teen Titans, Outsiders and numerous non-affilitated heroes obey your call just because you're the one who made it, you're doing SOMETHING right.
(Of course, there is the slight worry about what would have happened had the demon targetted supervillains instead of superheroes (since the corpse would obey it in either event), and how many crimes succeeded because the heroes were offworld waiting for an invasion that never came, but this is a One Perfect Moment, so I'm glossing over that! ;P )
A Donna Troy who is just-recovering-from-apparently-being-killed but actually being-taken-by-the-Titans-of-Myth-and-manipulated-into-being-their-agent, but has now had her memories restored by the arrival of the Titans, and how pleased she is to see them, her oldest friend in particular.

I could go on for pages about how much i love the Dick/Donna's wonderful, platonic, all-but-siblings relationship, but this is perhaps not the time.
And don't forget the Nightwing Bump, Something that even the #1 trusted superhero on Earth is grateful for!

Okay, technically that's the Pre-Flashpoint Superman, who's haveing to step back into the role after the New 52 Superman died, but then they sort of conflated timelines or something, I don't quite follow what was going on there, but to be honest, I'm not sure DC did either.

Date: 2020-03-26 05:23 pm (UTC)Though even that's preferable -- and I say this despite my big thumbs-up to Miller for creating Carrie Kelley -- to Dick's abysmal portrayal in TDKSA as someone Batman had fired for "incompetence" and "cowardice." And as, in the present, someone for whom Batman feels not a whit of compassion, nor regret in having to defeat, considering "Joker" Dick is a victim of Luthor's genetic manipulations which drove him insane.
Even already in TDKR there's a strong hint of disdain for Grayson. In the excerpt I posted yesterday, when Batman goes delirious during his battle he inwardly calls Dick's name but then reflects on how he was his "little monkey wrench" who always needed Batman to "bail him out." And let's not even get into the "Stockholm Syndrome" Dick of ASBAR. Ugh.
