And Mike Maihack is there to chronicle it!

She WOULD be a very... trying house guest. I mean, Bart Allen would probably be worse, but maybe not by much...

Stay safe, wash your hands and read comics!

You know, ever since (and perhaps even before) those 9/11 specials MARVEL did, I’ve always wondered how disasters and tragedies in real life affect characters in comics, TV, film, literature, etc. whose worlds are generally meant to be a mirror of our own.

In this case, would Hawk Moth have a field day with Covid19 panic and would Ladybug and Cat Noir have to stop some Covid19-themed villain? Would the TMNT go nuts in the empty streets seeing how no one’s really around to see them, or are they at risk from the virus, too? Are Wakanda, Krakoa, Latveria, etc. affected? Do characters like the Riverdale gang or the Persona 4 crew or Mystery Inc. keep in touch via social media or messaging or whatnot? Do villains like Lex Luthor or Doctor Doom or Pinky & The Brian see this as the perfect time to try and take over the world? Is interdimensional travel like with Mortal Kombat or Monsters, Inc. or the Web Warriors forbidden to prevent the virus spreading to their respective realms? Can Digimon Tamers still see their Digimon, since they’re digital monsters in the computer and have no physical existence? What will happen to schools and classes like Ms. Frizzle’s or Sesame Street or Monster/Ever After High? Can non-organic beings like Robotboy or the Crystal Gems or Transformers catch the virus or can they be potential carriers?

Doctor Doom would probably be working his hardest to find a cure/vaccine for COVID-19, if only because Reed Richards would also be working 24/7 for the same and Doom is damned if he's going to let RICHARDS get there first. I also dare say Lex Luthor would be doing something similar (albeit with some kind of underhanded ulterior motive going on underneath) purely to demonstrate the strength of human ingenuity / show up Superman somehow.

Since stainless steel can carry active virus samples for up to three days, robots like Robotboy or the Transformers could be rather serious carriers, though most of the latter avoid contact with humans regardless. Whatever the Crystal Gems are made of, it's not something that the NIH has yet tested, so it's hard to say for sure. I don't think any of them could CATCH this thing, but I'm prepared to be proven wrong.

By all appearances the Crystal Gems don't need to breathe, but I wouldn't put it past Amethyst to do so occasionally just for the fun of it. So it seems unlikely that their hard light bodies would be susceptible to the infection, but they might still act as a surface to carry it on- don't lick a gem, and wash your hands after handling them.

On the other hand, Transformers (and Kryptonians, for that matter) can easily survive sterilization/autoclaving methods that would kill humans, so they could absolutely help with transportation.

Wouldn't super heroes be considered an essential service?

Add to it the fact that Supergirl is probably immune to Covid-19 being an alien and all.

I imagine Super heroes would be pretty busy right now: Helping run supplies, doing Television PSA's encouraging people to self isolate, heroes with healing powers going to help cure high risk people, Super Scientists working to make a vaccine faster.

Edit: And I just noticed that they changed it to Joker Gas here, so yeah that scans.

Lex Luthor would invent a Coronavirus vaccine that was 100% effective but also fatal for Kryptonians, and so for the good of all humanity, Superman and the others would leave Earth.

Then we'd discover that the vaccine was secretly influenced by the Anti-Life Equation, and Darkseid would invade.

For something a bit more positive I imagine that Tony Stark walked into his office with his board and was like.

Tony: Alright Coronavirus is a thing, I want all my factories making masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, medical supplies, I want it shipped out to people ASAP.

Random Executive: yes sir, we're going to make a real killing cashing in on....

Tony: You're fired. You have one hour to clean out your desk. We aren't making any money off of this. Not one dime. All of this is being sent out free of charge, we'll even pay the shipping. Also, I understand the average pay increase for workers during this period is an extra two dollars an hour. What are we paying ours?

Another exec: Um.... five more an hour?

Tony: You get to stay but I'm doing one better: Seven extra dollars an hour, and full paid sick leave for anyone already sick.

And meanwhile Captain America is doing PSA's telling people to stay indoors, Bruce and Hank are hard at work on a Vaccine. Spider-man and Ms.Marvel are delivering care packages to the city homeless and yelling at people to go inside and quarantine.

More realistically:
Tony: I've invented radical new takes on respirators and masks, to protect everyone and help those who can't breathe on their own.

Arno & Bain and/or Stane and/or AIM and/or Roxxon and/or Norman Osborn: We stole Tony's schematics and are pumping out our own inferior yet flawed versions which infuse the user with coronavirus-killing nanobots... which will allow us to take over the users at a later date.

Tony: I've assembled every size-changing hero in the world to help me fight these nanobots and take back my technology. This crossover event will run six issues, with at least 4 spin-off miniseries that may or may not factor into the actual plot.
Everyone: "Oh for fuck's sake."

Al Ewing: "Dibs on all the doctors again!"
Matthew Rosenberg: "Who do I get to kill off?"
Nick Spencer: "In my mini, Boomerang recruits a bunch of C-list villains to hijack a shipment of medical supplies, seemingly for their own profit, but it's a complicated con involving three betrayals and Razorback the mutant truck hero that winds up with them helping orphans and nuns and accidentally being hailed as heroes."
Frank Tieri: "In my mini, the Punisher shoots everyone who hoards medical supplies."
Leah Williams: "I'm not sure what I'm doing, but it's going to be super-gay and super-enthusiastic and is anyone using Gwenpool?"
Jonathan Hickman: "In my 12-issue deconstructed saga, we learn that the coronavirus came from a collapsed universe and was sent by an unfathomably powerful alien race to prepare us for ultimately merging with the machines, but don't worry, the mutants are working on a solution..."

People would also applaud Frank for shooting people who hoard toilet paper!

Unless, of course, what we call COVID-19 is what Kryptonian scientists called Virus-X.

The problem with Covid-19 is that you can be a carrier without actually being affected by the disease.

I'm imagining Ultron (like in Secret Empire) looking at pushes of folks sitll wanting to go out and talk of getting back to work earlier and musing "you know what? Forget all my plans for mass genocide, I just need to sit back and watch these organics kill themselves."

Funnily enough, in the Mutants and Masterminds Freedom City campaign setting, the Ultron equivalent is Talos (As in the Mythical Man of Bronze Talos. Basically long story short the Iron Man equivalent in that setting is an Immortal Daedaulus who took Talos on as an apprentice before he became evil). Talos hates humans and wants to wipe them out, but decided the most expedient way to do so is to found the Foundry (the settings equivalent to AIM) and to provide super villains and criminals weapons of mass destruction to do the dirty work for him.

So basically this settings Ultrons plan is "Give the Organics guns and enjoy the show).
