King says that he needs to make something more contemporary and that in the wake of the 2016 election everyone said that we were going to get great art but that he hasn't seen that great art yet so they're going to try do that. -- Newsarama

This is an interesting series so far: fun when it wants to be fun, suspenseful, and in line with King's best work.

But I do not get that quote at all. This is a series about questioning whether Strange is a war criminal with a side order of Strange struggling to adjust to normal life after military service. Of all the war-related, traumatized stuff King has written, this looks like it might be the traumatizedest and war-relatedest. And I don't think that's a bad thing; I think those very factors also resonate with the current era, so I don't see why throwing them overboard would even be a goal.

I think King was being sarcastic when he said that and the article didn't put that into the transcript.
