Tony Takezaki's Evangelion takes on the critical issue of fanservice

The scene opens at NERV headquarters with a poke at the frequent technobabble in the original anime.







"All personnel... Begin service! Major Katsuragi, take the lead!"










Unfortunately, male bridge bunnies Aoba and Hyuga mess things up with weaksauce air guitar and "can't find my glasses" routines that provide no service at all. So Maya swallows her pride and steps up.










Asuka, apparently not knowing what "shy and demure" means, proceeds to rub her chest against a protesting Shinji ("I'm n-not ready for deliberate contact with women..."), whereupon Misato Katsuragi orders her to stop corrupting the development of youth ("That's my job!"). Things descend further into pandemonium until Deputy Commander Fuyutsuki has had enough.










If you're not familiar with the Evangelion franchise... trust me that Gendo Ikari definitely had this coming. (And because this is a cartoonish parody, he's fine afterwards.)







Everyone follows suit by unleashing a wave of destruction on property both NERV and personal. It all culminates in a traditional summer festival dance because... just because.

Have to disagree with you on shittiest anime parent. Gendo is definitely close, but Ragyo Kiryuin and Shou Tucker are even more monstrous towards their kids.

I think there's a bonus level of fanservice joke with smacking Gendo--in the mecha anime genre, commanders are infamous for smacking their young pilots around. It's known as the Bright Slap because Bright Noa slapping Amuro Ray in the original Mobile Suit Gundam is the originator of the trope. Fuyutsuki is engaging in another type of fanservice--the genre callback.
