Batman: Child of Dreams was written and drawn by Kia Asamiya, and serialized in Kodansha's Magazine Z.
A couple years after its run there completed, it got an English-language release, with the dialogue tweaked by Max Allan Collins.
It opened on a news team from Japan, come to Gotham City for a story - Batman himself.
On the way to a Gotham crime scene (which they were tracking via police scanner), the team's producer turned to the on-camera reporter.
" What's this, Nagai? "
" Little good-luck charm.. Actually, it isn't from me.. It's a present from our generous sponsor.. Your loving uncle.. "

They crossed a bridge.

At the crime scene, the criminal was monologuing to his hostages.
" I am not the one who will decide your fate - it's the coin. It decides to acquit or convict-

(Yes, this got flipped.
Collins took that into account: " ..you have no idea how much time I spent in front of the bathroom mirror holding up the Japanese book to the mirror so I could see how the page would look in the American version because it played differently. ")

Two-Face rhapsodized on this turn: " With your help, the public will see that I am not some petty criminal who demands ransom and safe passage!
" Instead, they will learn that I am the instrument of fate itself! "
He pivoted to Yuko.

Two-Face's thumb slipped under the coin.

" Batman! What kept you? "

" Like me to get it for you? "
Batman continued needling him: " Why execute these innocents? That's not your style.. and where's your crew?
" What score are you pulling down? You're a capitalist at heart, Harvey.. Two-Face. "

Batman's retraction knocked Two-Face's gun away.
" That's enough, Harvey. "
" Have you forgotten who I am, Batman?
" I'm Two-Face - I've got two of everything- "
He pulled a second gun out.
" - and this second one's a real killer! "
Batman ducked Two-Face's wild gunfire and closed with him, landing a punch that sent him out the window.
The falling Two-Face was caught.
" Are you.. going to.. let me fall? "
" I don't know, Harvey.. maybe I should flip a coin. "
Batman pulled him back inside.

He took him down to the police.

Yuko switched tacks.

Without her cameraman (' Damn - we're missing this! What a shot! '), she watched the Batman land below and get into his car.
