Mod Post - Requests and Pride Month
Jun. 1st, 2020 10:43 amThe aim of these monthly (Ahem, okay, they're INTENDED to be monthly) posts is to give community members a chance to request postings; A story they might recall but not know the name of, or a specific arc, or even examples from a particular creator or genre.
We can't, of course, guarantee that any request will be filled, but given the combined geekitude of the community (and we mean that in the nicest possible sense) you might be surprised what can be unearthed.
Plus it's June, and that means it's Pride Month, which scans_daily, given part of our origins lie firmly withinthe slash fandom community, rightly honours.
It has been suggested, and not without some foundation, that S_D hasn't been stressing the positive as much as we could, and especially at the moment, should, so let's take this chance to see that represented this month!
Bring us scans of your most sapphic of lesbians, your gayest gays, your queerest queers, your proudest asexuals, and show us that gender isn't a binary, it's a whole damn spectrum! The heroes, the villains, the civilians, the naughty, the nice, and the just plain morally dubious!
Subtext is fun (and heavens knows it's what many of us grew up with), but text is better and block-capital 48 point rainbow-glitter lettering is fabulous.
Scans from comics, manga, bandes desinee, manhwa, fanart and webcomics are welcome.
(For those last two categories, please always link to the source, and follow cretor requests about not reposting things, though you can still link to them.)
Classics we know, classics we missed, new titles we may not have heard of.
If you've never posted before, now might be the time to try!
C'mon S_D, dazzle us this June! We deserve it!

Date: 2020-06-03 04:50 pm (UTC)The first is my white whale, a story I read when I was younger and which I've never been able to track down using my vague memories. It was a story in some sort of DC/Batman annual or winter special, focusing on a group of three or four teenagers who used a single secret identity to act as a low level superhero in Gotham, until Black Mask (I think) had Killer Croc eat one of them (I think). They called themselves something along the lines of The Spirit of [something] Street. In terms of when it came out I want to say early 2000s, but it couldn't have been earlier than the mid-90s. I don't even remember if it was particularly good (I suspect, based on my impression that it involved a teen getting eaten, that it wasn't) but the concept has stuck with me for a long time.
Less specifically, I've always been curious about the Ben Reilly Spider-Man era, in many ways an earlier attempt at something like what One More Day eventually did. If anyone has highlights of the era, or a story they feel is representative of it, I'd love to see it. I've always wondered about that one story where Carnage bonds first to Spidey and then the Silver Surfer.
