#2'd been a leap forward, to Maxwell Maas's future.
There, he was working to solve a problem.
Before that, in the past, he was a child living with his father.
" Max. You better get yourself ready. We're leaving in an hour. "
Max's response was insistent pedantry.
His dad's response to that was a fist.
Max picked himself up, listening to his dad's frustration.
" Somethin' - somethin' important - it's missing in you. You think you're better, but yer jus' a different kinda broke. "

Max went to his room.

(Max's Overman is wearing a cape and saving a space shuttle, in a pose echoing the cover of Action Comics #27.)

Off they went.

They came eventually to a world of ruins, where one was alive.
That one turned from their work to tell Max and Freddy a story about a " perfect city " whose people had " the idea " one day.
The way they were frustrated Max.

" You're going to stay? Here? Why?! They're gone! Nothing you do- "
" 'They?' "
" If not for them, then - "
" Who else remains? "

Max took the offered flower.

Max went back home, passing through ' the Vice Verse. A universe where thermodynamics runs in reverse. '

(Max gets his alliteration from his mother's side, apparently.)

(Pagecount's 7 and under 9/10ths of 24.
Writing's Deniz Camp, letters're Aditya Bidikar, and art's Vittorio Astone.
This was published by Vault Comics.)

Date: 2020-06-05 04:53 pm (UTC)This issue is, for me the least notable of the series, but it's also emblematic of how I feel about the series. The ideas on display just never feel terribly well connected, so they come off as glorified shower thoughts. I like all of the ideas, but they never come together.
Desperately looking forward to the next issue you post though, I have some things to say about it.
