#1'd been its augmentation via members of the aptly named Revolutionaries.
#2 had one of them, Fin the Atlantean, mourning the death of his brother Scale in his water cell.
He cast his sorrow telepathically. It was caught by another likewise gifted, Scale's killer, the Squad member known as the Shark.

Fin punched through the glass dividing them, then went at the Shark.
He took a tooth before the Squad's new handler Lok triggered their implanted electrical disciplinary aids.
They were still unconscious when Lok gathered the whole roster to spin a spiel for the Revolutionaries.
" Fifty missions.
" After which, your freedom will be granted and you will be given new identities. "

" .. will come from the sea to take out the radar facility on the coast. "
(You might remember Bahdnisia from its role in the origin and life of Johnny Thunder.)
As the Shark and Fin were coming up on the radar facility, Lok had some more words for them: " Let me make it clear, if there is any more squabbling between you two, I will randomly blow one of you to pieces.
" You fight, and you'll be playing Russian Roulette with two chambers and one bullet. "

The Shark and Fin took the facility, letting the other Squaddies on the mission come in undetected as two teams.
Team B - Deadshot and the Revolutionaries Osita, Aerie, and Wink - were caught in a hail of gunfire from the ground that took out their pilot.
As Team A's craft banked off, Deadshot went to try and land the plane.

(Wink's the one waving and teleporting.)

" Hang on. Where's Wink? "
Wink was off extracting the president whose victory America'd bought. She blinked back in with him.
Team B took him out of sight, moving towards the nearby stormwater tunnel.
They were confronted by a guard, whom they dispatched.
Osita picked up the man's gun.. and fired it off: " It's an ambush!
" It's-

Osita pulled the trigger.

Date: 2020-06-17 01:34 pm (UTC)The original Squad always had some heroes/anti-heroes who could keep the mission on track.
But a team full of unwilling villains, or conscripted metas? That's gonna create a mess just as bad as the original mess.
