Went better than I expected, but that's not saying much.

Among the issues that bug me, is that in a logical narrative, you'd think that Babs would have secured the chip a long, long time ago.

hmmm.. have to say, i loved Barbara's joke at the end. or maybe more of a pun? anyway, i also love the moment of autonomy. im pretty sure Joker will be up and running almost immediately (he has some kind of healing factor right?) while Barbara will probably be in a chair again (making her take up the Oracle Role again) at least till the end, or penultimate issue, of this event....

also, this might not be here or there... but not loving the long pixie cut on her...or... wait... is she in a pony tale (also i am kinda insulted by Joker calling her Robin (this is from a robin lover) because i mean she earned both the Bat and oracle title...

I'm not so sure. #50 is this series last issue, and if they want to move Cass back to Batgirl, and Babs back to Oracle, this might be the route they've chosen

I mean, we'd all like Babs back as Oracle, but not by crippling her again.

it would be awesome if this led to oracle coming back and cass as batgirl but i am worried it's just like the hundredth time they've recrippled barbara for cheap drama since her big return to being batgirl. it's so ugly and exploitative of disability.

i really really want to be wrong like seriously if anyone knows anything pls tell me

Here's what we know.
- There are still three issues left.
- Cecil Castellucci the current writer for Batgirl tweeted two things about this event. #1 she wasn't invited to the main creative meeting for this event (Tynion, Tomasi, and Jurgens were). #2 This volume of Batgirl was always on borrowed time (which she learned earlier this year). Just that something changed (DiDio being fired?) and the book lasted a few more issues than it was supposed too, along with the original status quo (5G?) that was laid out changed (what Tynion wants).
- Tynion has been hyping up BatgirlS in Batman: Joker War Zone #1.
- said one-shot is said to be the prelude to what Tynion wants to tell in 2021.
- Shiva has been berating Cass over in B&O that Bruce and Babs have been treating her badly, that they haven't even given her a symbol, that Cass should be a hero and so much more than just Batman and the family's tool.

Let's also not forget the variant cover for this one-shot features Cass in her batgirl gear. Now, the art for the pages showed her as orphan, but why would they intentionally be showing her in that look during a crucial event like this? This isn't the same situation as Sabretooth's cover costume during the recent Weapon X run. .

Because let's be real, Babs is better as oracle, and Cass as batgirl.

Thanks for the rundown! That was helpful. I'd only just heard about BG being cancelled and what that might mean, but I was unaware of the Cass element.

Cass may be becoming Batgirl again? That's good news for me at least. It sucks that it comes at Barbara's expense though.

The issue as a whole was kind of weirdly disjointed, as if three different writers all pitched their ideas for how a Joker-Barbara story would go, and a fourth without much power over the others tried to blend them all into one.

The idea they saved for last was the most emotionally resonant, though it's pretty amazing that Babs is able to rip out her own spinal implant without even full control over her motor functions, like it's a bit of bacne she just had to stretch a little to pop.

I know it's not gonna happen, but if the Joker is immobile for the rest of this storyline, I'll be considerably impressed.
