Gee, I wonder which ones are dead meat. Also, I couldn't see Peacemaker.

My guess is that first we get the team of obscure villains played by all the Big Names, and they get slaughtered and/or mind-controlled before the opening credits, and then Waller sends in the "prime team."

Peacemaker: Safe, but let's not rule out a blaze of glory finish.

No matter what, I expect a 65% casualty rate in one fashion or another, or it's not a proper Suicide Squad, not with this amount of "talent" from the villain pool.

That's pretty much what I thought.

I am interested to see who Taika Watiti is playing. The villain hasn't been named either.

I've heard... Starro.
No idea if it'll be the new humanoid version, or if they'll go with classic giant starfish. Hence my speculation that a few of the characters listed may end up mind controlled.

I just assumed that any character that lifelong comic fans have to Google* is doomed. Also Polka Dot Man.

Honestly they could just drop a bomb on the whole team and most people would be fine with it as long as Harley survives.

*Pete Davidson is playing a character so forgettable that I had to look him up even though I've read his first appearance several times.

Exactly what I thought... Javelin is a guaranteed "readily deadily", but Polka Dot Man will make it I feel.

Thinker I'm n the fence about. Capaldi playing a sarcastic genius is an easy sell, but he might only want to do a cameo for fun.

Mostly agreed, but just to make the argument for a couple of them.

Solsoria's only comic appearance lasted a single issue before he was offed.

Weasel was killed off in an early Suicide Squad story. (I think he may have been the first one killed? But it's been a while since I read the first series.)

So, yeah, they'll be lucky to survive the opening scene.

Polka Dot Man and TDK are super-ridiculous, thus dead.

(Javelin actually survived his stint with the Squad, but it's likely his survival was a continuity error, so...a wash on how his comic appearance will affect his movie fate.)

I heard it's rated R... Gonna have to wait and see how violent it is before I decide whether to watch it or not.

I had to skip BoP because it was too violent for me :(((

I never get why people think an R rating is automatically better in every context. With something like Suicide Squad, sure, but with something like Birds of Prey?

I hate the common idea that R rated automatically means more mature and more sophisticated art. That simply being accessible to children automatically lessens its artistic worth.

Casablanca is rated PG.

Zombie Strippers is rated R.

This idea is pretty prevalent on Dreadit, and it drives me nuts, there, but it's even more maddening outside the context of horror (where several subgenres do work best as hard R (slashers)...but others (ghost stories) don't).

It’s a soft reboot, they’re not discarding the previous film.

That’s good-ish. For all the many flaws the last film had, I rather liked the cast and characters.

EDIT: Okay, I didn’t actually see the roll call until just now, and I’m surprised at the amount of people from the last film coming back. That’s nice.

Looks cool. I was disappointed that the 2016 Suicide Squad didn't buck expectations and turn out well, so here's hoping for this one. I'm digging the big cast, though I hope even with the high body count they don't just treat everyone as a joke.

Bloodsport is a hell of a pull for Elba's character, can't say I had that one down as a guess.

I'm also extremely pumped to see John Cena as Peacemaker as Awful Captain America.
