I just kind of like the idea that Suicide Slum has the kind of problems where he can arrive in the aftermath but not in time. When someone pulls a gun out of their coat and shoots and Superman is five miles away, he's not stopping the bullet
Didn't Kara have an absolute hate on for clones when New52 started because they usually turned into destructive bizarros or something? Or was that a different Kara/Supergirl/Earth/timeline?
God, I think you're right, based on her interactions with the short lived New 52 Clone Superboy, but given how many times the Super-continuity has been blown up over the past 5 years who knows at this point.
It just hit me how odd it feels to see the pre-New 52 Superboy milling around in this book as a supporting character. After Bendis brought back him and Impulse in Young Justice, neither has interacted with the rest of the DC Universe in any meaningful way, they've just stayed these weird artifacts rather than starting to fit into the broader narrative.
Also, weird for Jon to call Supergirl "Auntie Kara" given that she's like, 5 years older than him. Unless it's a private joke, but that wouldn't seem appropriate for the context.
Family is weird. Granted, given how I refer to my own relatives, I'd have Jon calling her "Cousin Kara".
Also, given how long ago they were born, Kara is much younger than she should be and Jon is much older (both because of crazy sci-fi reasons) so do with that what you will.
As for Conner and Bart's relationships to the wider DCU I hope this gets addressed somewhere because I think I read Young Justice is getting cancelled.

It just reminds of when I was reading tutor and one of the kids in second grade didn't realize they were the Uncle to the other second grader. They just described the other child as being thier sisters kid.
Wasn't there a bit during the Byrne run where Superman raided an Intergang warehouse specifically because the lead lining made it stand out to his X-Ray vision?
Quite possibly. I do remember him finding where Joker had hidden a kidnapped Lois, Perry and Jimmy because Joker had assumed that Superman couldn't see lead so had stashed them in lead coffins.
I see the red mist idiot has decided to double down on her 'look how awesome I am' nonsense. And by killing another Bendis introduced character (Who was actually kind of nifty)
I'll be honest, a supporting character in the Metropolis Fire Department? I loved that idea, it had potential for character and action scenes, along with storylines. Instead Bendis kills her off as the latest attempt by Bloody Fart to prove how amazing she is.
I came to rag on Bendis being Bendis but good god JRJr, what happened? I mean, the part where everyone looks exactly the same thing is old hat, but this is all flatter than cardboard.
I think it may be a case of time catching up with him. He's been drawing comics since the 1970s after all. I think if a new artist turned in work like that they'd be told to come back when they learned how to draw, but you can't really say something like that to one of the legends of the industry.
Then maybe its a good time to pass on the torch to new artists? It's not as if this run is predicated on deep ties to continuity and nostalgia, so why not make it more enticing to new readers?

“Yes.”

Date: 2020-08-26 07:54 pm (UTC)Sometimes, such as with characters like, say, Spider-Man, it can work.
The problem is when it doesn't work. Which, when he's not dealing with street-level characters, is a lot.

Unless Kryptonians don't get really hung up on that sort of thing. Also, what *are* the rules about who gets to remember Connor?
