And not before time... after waaaayyy too much time actually, but it's finally here.
Slightly disappointed that Kory wasn't there in his memories and I really hope this isn't the last we see of Bea, who clearly deserves better than this as an exit.
Did Tim shrink six inches when he took back the Robin identity because he's TINY there!
" We hope you've enjoyed this re-re-arrangement of the deck chairs. We'll now pause so that you can take in the hollowness of whatever satisfaction you might feel. "
Eh, it's best not to get too attached to any Dick Grayson love interests who aren't Babs or Kory. They don't tend to outlast the current creative teams before vanishing forever.
I fully expected them to kill her as soon as she jumped in front of Batgirl.
Truly the end of an era. A terrible era that no one asked for or wanted, indeed an era that other creators judiciously ignored whenever possible, but an era nonetheless.
There's not a lot to be said about this in the way of the positive; the art is weird and inconsistent, the writing is woefully underwhelming, but mostly I'm struck by how thankless this is. Poor Dan Jurgens, brought in as cleanup man for the pre-Rebirth combination of Post-Crisis and New 52 Superman, and now called on to restore Nightwing to factory settings. I'm not the biggest latter day Jurgens fan, but the kind of assignment has to be the furthest thing from rewarding. I mean, no one's ever going to revisit this fondly, the entire job is to tread water long enough to smash the reset button.
Yeah, I never blamed the writers for basically phoning this entire Ric story in. It's obvious that everyone involved in this book cares about it exactly as much as we do.
Agreed, Jurgens has had more than one thankless task, but this might the thank-less-iest of them all, and he's done it as professionally as one might hope.
Jeez, even the one part of the story we're supposed to celebrate is an underwhelming mess. Bruce losing Dick was supposed to come off as so emotionally and mentally devastating that he loses his sense of self and here he's just like "Oh hey pal, glad to have you back."
I don't think anyone would have ever wanted to read a story about an amnesiac Dick Grayson but they could've at least tried to do something interesting with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming the writers because it's pretty obvious they had no love for the story they were mandated to tell, but...sigh, whatever.
Also why the hell did they involve a magic mind-control crystal when they were already set up with Babs having a back-up of Dick's personality?

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.

Heck, it's not even the height , his body proportions look like a child, too.
