I've never played Animal Crossing, and assume that really, deep down, it's a cute wholesome game, and not, as some descriptions have led my to suspect, and indentured servitude simulator.
I haven't played recent entries in the series, but the first games kinda walk straight into this kinda thing by having one of the main animal characters who's a business owner who repeatedly renovates your house without your consent and foots you with the bill as debt. While his business gradually grows over the course of this.
It's framed as a gameplay milestone giving you a bigger house and opening up more stuff to buy from the shop, but how the game goes about it is kinda wack.
Yeah, they dropped that in New Horizons. Now upgrading your house is completely optional and you can stay in a tiny hut as long as you want; Tom Nook is just there to help.
It's amazing how Nook has gone from "sinister menacing mob figure" to "inexplicably one half of a fandom pairing with Redd".
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
