Its primary story's protagonist is Cecily Bain, associate of the Camarilla.
Issue #1's part of that opens on her helping maintain the Masquerade that hides everything about vampires from the regular humans, by killing one of those - the girlfriend of a vampire who'd revealed himself to her, out of love.
She left the grieving vampire with his dead girlfriend and her open red throat and went to go check in with the local Camarilla primogen, Calder.
He poured her a drink; they looked out from Galtier Towers, over St. Paul.

(They're drinking blood.)

" .. before you end up on your own list. "
Cecily left Calder on that note, heading to another appointment - with her elderly, mortal sister Karen.
Karen's caretaker (who knew Cecily as " [Karen's] niece Darla ") left the two of them alone.
Cecily eschewed her and Karen going out to the Longhorn: " Seriously, you don't want to be lame. Let's just chill out for a little bit so we don't burn out early. Trust me, I know these things. I'm the older, wiser sister. "
" Yeah. That's what you always say. "
" What, you don't believe me? I mean, I razz you and shit, but I'm just looking out for what's best for you. Always have. "
" That's what you.. you always..

' Something not Karen at all. '
" No. "

Cecily went out into the night.

" Oh, no. No, you don't, you gutter suck. This is mine! "
Cecily hurled the other vampire around: " Everything around this shithole. The Prince gave it to me!
" Which means it's a Kindred-free zone. No other goddamn ' licks ' unless I say so! "
She got her down on the ground: " Who the hell are you?! "

Cecily took Alejandra home, to interrogate her: " Who did this to you? "

(The blood on " Ali "'s face is from Cecily's stock - she fed it to her.
" Ali " is Cecily shortening Alejandra's name out of impatience.)

Cecily went to sleep.

Alejandra made her way over to Cecily.
" One.. two.. three.
