Is the Joker suggesting Batman's riding his coattails?

I think the Joker's rigged up a device whereby, at the pull of a string, his coattails become rigid and lash out. The larger context, whereby it makes sense for Bruce and the Joker to just be hanging out bantering while they develop their respective gimmicks, however, escapes me.

Yep. That image is taken directly from the first issue of Joker's '70s ongoing, where he uses it against Two-Face.

(Best part is, that's not even the silliest gadget he unveils in that story.)

The Joker, who has just robbed this specific bank, will never put his own money in this bank again, not because he'd be arrested or that money would be seized by the bank he stole it from, but because the last time he banked there, someone... else... stole... his money.

"And after I have feasted, I know what will happen!"

I like to think that the Joker went in to make a withdrawl, left the amount blank on the paperwork, and when asked, pulled out a gun and declared "What the heck, I'll take all of it!"

Or! In his previous visit, the Joker opened an account, made a deposit, and then immediately pulled a stick-up, thereby technically stealing his own money (along with everyone else's). All this was so he could add insult to injury, as he ran out with his ill-gotten gains, by saying, "Well, I never! Your bank's security must be dreadful if I was able to rob it so easily. I'll not be banking here in the future."

I could see that in, if nowhere else, stories in which the Joker simply doesn't care what Batman's civilian identity is.

For example, I always liked the bit in Morrison's Arkham Asylum when the Black Mask says, "I say we take [Batman's] mask off. I want to see his real face." To which the Joker replies, "Oh, don't be so predictable, for Christ's sake. That is his real face."
