There were many parts of it I enjoyed--Legion of the Damned was well-written, and the Progenitor as infinitely aged Element Lad was awesome--but yeah, "terrorforming" is a groaner even when it's deliberate. And Ra's makes a really terrible villain for a team that regularly flies across the galaxy and travels through time. Oh no, he will threaten us with the power of incompletely-understood evolution and climate change! How will our cast of futuristic aliens and robot people cope with this one-planet menace?
DnA's Darkseid sucked too, though. Maybe they just shouldn't do legacy villains.
DC should make all new Legion writers sign a waiver that they WILL NOT try to do a new version of the Great Darkness Saga (which will inevitably be a poor imitation).
Hey, I loved Quiet Darkness, though it's been a long time since I re-read it. Of course that was a sequel, not a re-do.
I kinda suspect that Legion writers aren't allowed to redo the Great Darkness Saga on the scale it demands. Editors at the Big Two these days seem to shun the cosmic perspective; no more exploding galaxies or 3 billion Supermen. (And few writers are less cosmically-minded than Bendis....)
I STILL really don't see the point of aging up Jon to a teenager when, more or less at the same time, Bendis also re-introduced Kon, a teenage Superboy.
Kon in the 31st Century makes sense, and allowing Jon to be a kid, and the son of Lois and Clark, and one of the Super-Sons seemed to have infinitely more potential than this.
Agreed. The Legion is meant to be a refuge for lonely, misunderstood super-teenagers. Silver Age Clark qualifies, 'cuz the Kents can't really comprehend his life even if they love and support him. Kon qualifies, 'cuz he was born in a tube and that's infinite angst fodder. But Jon? His father is Superman and he was born into the heroic age at its height. He should be a golden child. What does a flight ring add to his story?

At least his Damian comes off a bit better.
