I was just thinking that, Taylor has written this as a big, positive "give the fans what they want" moment, but it's very strange given we know that canonically it's followed by a backslide which leaves Harley party to the most heinous thing the Joker ever pulled.
I mean, I don't. I hate it, actually. Yes, Harley is a battered victim of domestic violence, but that doesn't mean she completely lacks agency. At some point I get sick and tired of that reason being used to excuse mass murder of millions. Mainstream comics had the common sense to discreetly push her worst stories out of canon range so she doesn't have the blood of countless children on her hands anymore, but Injustice's whole premise is based on her worst crime.
But a lot of fans are 100% behind Harley no matter what.
I legit think it's only a matter of years before they make this canon in mainstream DC continuity. New 52 already took a step towards it with "Joker chemically mutated Harley into what she is today"; and Tynion's recent stuff has explicitly establishing brainwashing gimmicks as part of Joker's arsenal.
Absolutely nothing new or interesting on the take of harley or ivy.
Its been a long time since anything interesting was done with Ivy. The last thing that I very vaguely recall that was interesting was when she was a mother hen to a group of orphan kids....like 20 years ago. After that, she went was largely bleh.
Then because sjws cant understand that just because two people are the same gender and are very close it doesnt necessarily make them gay that "harley x ivy" happened.....which landed with a resounding thud to the people who actually spend the money on the comics, and rightfully so.
Frankly, im tired of the only two paths writers know to take ivy in the last 20 years...harley's "straightman" for her hijinks/bff or cruel "human lives are meaningless" attitude.
When it's been an ongoing theme between the two since... what, the mid-90s, with Harley and Ivy meeting in the animated series... yeah, their queerness has been baked into the characters for 25 years. :)
"which landed with a resounding thud to the people who actually spend the money on the comics, and rightfully so"
I'm sorry, but it's straight up outside reality to claim people by large haven't accepted Harley and Ivy as more than friends or are actively opposed to it. Like, no discussion, you straight up wrong about this and don't know what you're talking about.
Ah yes, the Comicsgate talking point "we are the ones who actually spend money on comics". Yeah, the real comics fans palling around lying piece of dogshit nobody relevant wants to have anything to do with. Clearly, you guys have deep insight into how to make industry thrive.

Harley and Ivy are canon queer and the vast majority of real fans who actually care about the characters and who actually read comic books love that this is canon. The couple is one of the best pairings that DC has ever come out with and the only thing that I have ever seen REAL fans complain about is the way that DC often refuses to properly acknowledge it, queerbaiting us with subtext without delivering the goods.
I sincerely doubt you've ever read a comic book in your life and the fact you genuinely used the phrase "SJW" as an insult makes me doubt you've ever read anything other than maybe Mein Kampf and that orange skinned fuckwits barely-literate attempts at the english language on his twitter feed.
But if you're really so mad about Harley/Ivy being canon I politely suggest you fuck off off of this website and go cry about it with your little mouth breathing nazi buddies on whatever shitstain website your disgusting bigoted kind frequents these days
I’m not going to act like the games and the comics always align (the big Robin retcon in the beginning of Injustice 2, Scarecrow being alive despite dying in the first game’s comic, Black Canary and Green Arrow apparently having emigrated from their alternate universe and settled in a while off screen, pretty much any of the DLC fighters), but that would have been cool to see at least some indication of this development in the game, given the main story has them violently and tragically break up over the Braniac invasion and that every character actually has several personalised intros with one another and unique dialogue in specific meter clashes.
Also, is this the Joker that got killed by Superman or is this the one from the “normal” universe of the first game?
I really want Harley to be in prison. I know she helps take down Evil Superman but she STILL helped blow up Metropolis killing millions of people. Overall her body count is higher than Clark's.
I really hate the game's take on Harley. It ignores character developement dating as far back as the original cartoon, not to mention her atrocious costume. From what I'm seeing the author of the comics is trying to fix that (and he did a great job fixing Damian's storyline), but honestly I find it unfixable.

Date: 2020-10-31 09:50 pm (UTC)I still don't get how the comics or the games of injustice try to throw all of this at us, despite Harley literally being part of this.
Injustice 1 , makes sense because Injustice Batman had no choices.
Injustice 2, I don't really get how the heroes or the Insurgency have no problem with Harley at all....

Maybe this will be used to explain Harley's turn back towards villainy in time for Injustice.

Really?

And sometimes it's far better written than it has any right to be.
