Foolish Kindred. Making Peter feel responsible isn't the act of some diabolical arch-villain. He feels guilty if someone he knows stubs their toe.

... so, George and Gwen's corpses still have hair, but Jean, Marla and Flash don't?
Kindred just went and bought some wigs from a shop, didn't he?
And apparently couldn't be bothered getting ones for all of them.

And, er, Dr. Kafka comes highly recommended? By who, exactly?
Then again, given she shares a profession with luminaries such as Karla Sofen, Len Samson, and that shrink Rachel Grey saw for five minutes... yeah, probably not a lot of competition.
Still, worrying.

Look, clearly the Stacys had a latent mutant Gene which allowed them to have great hair after death.

I maintain Kafka is the worst comic shrink who isn't actively evil. Does she know Peter is Spider-Man here because that's really worrying?

Comic time being what it is ... how long ago did Flash die? Forget the hair, shouldn't he still have some meat on those bones?

Flash died in... what, 2018? '19?

So that's about... probably a couple of months for them?
Yeah, he should be a tad fleshy-er.

Mutant carrion beetles. It's always mutant carrion beetles when something like this happens.

The skeletons genuinely come off as goofy rather than creepy here: it's such a played out trope and the fact that they've all been reduced to skeletons but some of them still have lustrous hair only adds to that.

It's Marla's skeleton still having glasses on that does it, personally.

Kindred absolutely spent several hours dressing what may or may not be real skeletons to try to create ambiance.

Most fans and creators say Norman was an all right guy before the Green Goblin Formula drove him Crazy Town Banana Pants, right?

Well, the flashbacks to his childhood don't really amount to an upbringing that's beneficial to one's mental health. And he did scam Stromm even before he took the formula.

So, not a nice guy but the formula did make him very much worse.

The Ben page gave me a stroke, Peter always calls him uncle Ben and there was a spider right on the forehead, for a moment I thought they had killed Ben Reilly again.

I thought it was a bullet hole, meaning Ben Parker was shot dead-square in the forehead. Which isn't usually how his death his shown, when it is shown. Amazing Spider-Man #200 is the only example I can think of.

For a moment I also wondered whether the "Ben" thing was indeed willing ambiguity on Spencer's part, but with all due credit, he is most often not that subtle.

Of course, the whole setup does fit Kindred's modus operandi and their penchant for seeking a vulnerable angle to exploit. It's the staging that matters, the effect this will have on Peter. For all we know, these might be other people's remains he dug up and dressed as loved ones (it would explain Flash and the likely use of wigs).

Was anyone else imagining Kindred putting on silly voices during that first page, moving the skeletons' jaws as he talked about them all being family?
