Warhammer: Daemonifuge
Dec. 11th, 2020 05:59 pmWell, Games Workshop has teamed up with Marvel for its latest attempt at comics based in the Warhammer universes, but if we cast our minds back to 1998, we can see their longest-running title begin. Published in-house using mainly 2000ad veterans and featuring early work by Kieron Gillen and Si Spurrier, 'Warhammer Monthly' - later 'Warhammer Comic' near its cancellation where it went bi-monthly - was British black and white, in US page size, a weird combination.
The first three issues were okay, but then issue 4 gave us the first part of - IMHO - the title's best strip. Created by Jim Campbell co-writing with artist Kev Walker - and bearing not a little similarity to their 2000ad collaboration 'The Inspectre' - Daemonifuge was quite different from everything else.
Quite, quite different...
