Batman: Introducing Miracle Molly (and a new look for Scarecrow)

Joining Punchline, Clownhunter and Ghost-Maker as the latest member of Batman's rogues gallery is... Miracle Molly.

Also revealed is a new look for Scarecrow which is... interesting.

I’ve been having an argument internally for years that we have to move away from the Batman Begins inspired “bag on a guy’s head” look for Scarecrow, and get back to something that looks like it would be hanging on a post in a field. I’ve been saying the hat is necessary in the design, and boy oh boy did Jorge deliver…"

Well, now we at least know where Pizzazz from the Misfits has been since the IDW comic ended

As for Scarecrow... I am less than overawed. He looks like a cross between Emplate from Generation X and the Porcupine.

I see it as more of a cross between the Porcupine and the Vertigo "Mystery Theater" version of the Sandman:

Miracle Molly looks like a very of-the-moment design, which I don't think is a bad thing, and seems rooted in the look of the Future State's low cyberpunk. Tynion has been introducing a lot of new characters, which I usually don't expect from modern writers. Most seem to (quite rightfully) hold onto their original ideas for fear that they'll be hosed by their publisher.

The Scarecrow design is pretty cool. The... long hair (?) looks a bit weird, but the new mask is unique and the syringe gloves, while a little over the top, have been entrenched for a while now by the Arkham games. Moreover, the very fact that Scarecrow is getting a redesign suggests that Tynion is finally getting to write a story about someone other than the Joker, which is nice.

"Miracle Molly" sounds like a new strain of pot. I honestly wonder if that was intentional.

I like seeing a new villain with a unique gimmick/hook and I love the enthusiasm, but I'm just not sold on the name.

Batman villains' names tend to be tied to their shtick, and "Miracle Molly" just feels to vague. Maybe something like "Reboot" would work here?

Funny, I've never seen a scarecrow that looked like that. The gas mask and syringe gloves probably don't mean anything to cornfield pests.

Man, at least the Arkham games version had the sense to only wear one syringe glove so his other hand is free. What is Crane gonna do when he needs to pee?
