S.W.O.R.D. #2 - "In the Dark"

I'm planning a lot of connective tissue, with Guardians, with the X-Books and with the rest of the Marvel Universe, while still keeping S.W.O.R.D. as something that works alone. We're the point of contact between the X-Universe and the King In Black event, for example - because if you don't bring S.W.O.R.D. in to deal with, what's it even there for? But we take it from S.W.O.R.D.'s point of view, we'll be bringing a perspective that's unique to mutantdom and unique to this book. -- Al Ewing

Nah, Zealots believe in things. Exodus was the Zealot in the Acolytes. Cortez is just a weasel.

Between him, Vanisher, Mentallo, and who knows who else there sure seem to be a lot of irredeemable villains here.

Yeah, I remember Cortez as a wannabe racist terrorist with so little backbone he wouldn't fight unless he was able to hide behind a more powerful leader, who he'd also try to control said leader from the sidelines.

Vanisher and Mentallo aren't so much irredeemable as highly opportunistic. Wave enough money or benefits at them, and they'll do whatever you want. And honestly, I respect villains like that, who are shamelessly predictable in their pettiness.

... could Proteus create a sun?
I know he's a reality warper, but he always seemed like a pretty local area of effect kind of warper - like a few miles at most, and that was just futzing with what was already there.
Even with a boost from Hope, that sounds like a tall order.

(Mind, this does give the idea of Proteus just sitting there watching everyone else going on sexy and exciting adventures while muttering how he totally could've done it too...)

Hes gone one-on-one with a mature cosmic cube being, so given the life force to draw on, I think something to light up just earth or even a more local one should be well within his capabilities.

And Xavier clones is probably pretty potent life force sources.

I like that this explains why such powerful beings as Proteus, Tempus and hope does no saunter in a fix everything all the time.

I mentioned this before, but I do legitimately appreciate Plan V. It's leaning hard into the transhuman aspects of Krakoan society and using that to generate novel solutions that seem inhuman, but make perfect sense if you accept the precepts that that society is built on (namely, that someone resurrected by the Five is fundamentally a continuation of the same life- IE, no one who the Five can resurrect is truly dead, just... temporally biologically inconvenienced).

Making Mentallo the point man on it is a little odd, admittedly.
