I thought Logan Paul was already a supervillian. Still, he seems more like an harmless idiot than the full-on Nazis who do Let's Plays or whatever.
I actually think its fair to say "social media personality" has become a villain archetype. There was a My Hero Acedamia arc where Deku beats up a YouTuber.
PS: I hate that #559 was "way back". Partly because it makes me feel old (how great were those 35th anniversary issues in the 90s?) and partly because they're finally acknowledging the shortcomings of BND without fixing it.
Not long after filming a dead body in Japan's suicide forest he was back filming himself electrocuting dead animals. If anything the supervillain community would be like "Nuh-uh, even we have standards."
Too many Pacific Northwest Stories, and all I can think when it comes to this sort of advertising is "We always take the free website, because I eat a lot of socks."
I really am glad that they've had the sense to move Jonah beyond just "Spider-Man: Threatening Menace or Menacing Threat?" at last
Of course Marvel had moved him beyond just being "Angry grumpus who yells that everything is Spider-Man's fault" before back in the 90's but then along came a Dan Slott to ruin that along with everything else
But hopefully this time it actually sticks and Jonah doesn't just go back to being an angry jerk who hates Spider-Man again
My favorite thing is that their dynamic hasn't actually changed that much. This isn't Jonah talking about his amazing astronaut son. Jonah still treats Peter like he's a huge disappointment even when he says nice things about Spider-Man publicly.
Honestly Peter Parker is pretty much unemployable as a scientist or a photojournalist at this point (not sure what BND did to his teaching career falling apart in CW) so this is probably the best he's gonna get unless one of his super friends want to throw him a bone.
I still think Norah might be the devil though.
Also I'm weirdly curious about Lockheed's online presence. Like, it seems like something Kitty might do but also I can't rule out the possibility that he manages his social media himself. I'm just imagining he has a much larger dragon girlfriend who is also his photographer.
You'd think Tony could hook him up with a gig at Stark Industries, at least between bankruptcies and hostile takeovers.
But as a story-telling beat, I don't mind Peter having to struggle and hustle to make ends meet. I kind of appreciate him in his mode as "the most prominent hero who has to worry about making rent."
I mean, working for Tony didn't work out great last time.
I like that Peter is one of the few heroes that has to work for a living. Its just that - between faking photos, running his company into the ground while bricking his entire product line, and the "plagiarism" scandal - I'm not sure who would hire him. I know a lot of people thought it was unbelievable that Peter was a genius who had to work as a freelance photographer to get by but now it feels like they're going out of their way to make sure he never gets a leg up again.
Has working for/with Tony Stark ever worked out well for anyone?
I'm struggling to think of any employees of his who haven't either suffered tragedy or become supervillains or suffered tragedy and then become supervillains
"The falling civilians are caught snug in my webs and if you'd like to be snug at home be sure to check out Purple Mattress. Be sure to use promo code "thwip" for an extra discount"
Who wants to guess what will go Horribly Wrong with Peter's new costume
Personally I hote it gains evil sentience powered by the pure malice of countless tweets from internet trolls and Peter has to destroy it before it kills someone or worse, becomes a lets player
