In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves. Normal board rules about conduct and beahviour still apply, of course.
I have, perhaps, steered these topics with the various comments I make in this section, so let's see what happens when I just leave you to it.
(What a GREAT excuse, they'll NEVER suspect I'm just snowed under with pay-the-bills work!)
Random question of the week: What item of clothing do you most wish you could wear all the time but for whatever reason, don't. (You don't have to say why you don't, and there will be no judgment or criticism permitted about answers to this, be they Uggs, sparkly capes, shorts, platform soled shoes, 17th century cavalry officer jacket, or a fringed appliqué waistcoat... and no, that is not based on what I happen to be wearing right now... or is it?)

Date: 2021-03-16 12:04 pm (UTC)I got my death threat, yay! The letter demands that I publicly reject "LGBT, feminism and atheism" or be prepared to be stabbed or have fire set to my home. Joke on the sender, I actually want to die lol. I didn't go to the police because my friends who got similar letters had their cases dismissed as impossible to prosecute - the letters were not even sent by the post, they were put into the post boxes directly. I only fear one day I don't get to the letter first and one of my parents suffers a heart attack after reading it or gets cut on a concealed blade. I don't think anyone would be "brave" enough to actually fullfill the threat though.
Curiously, on the same day I found a letter adressed to me from the top village priest to discuss my "unchristian" behaviour. It thretened me with "legal consequences". I believe I got it because said priest got pissed at my mom for not pushing his maid to first place in the vaccination queue so that she can continue working at his home. Once again, fun times. I destroyed both letters.
I like lolita fashion. There are no lolita items that I would be able to wear physically.

Date: 2021-03-16 12:05 pm (UTC)So maybe its because today marks a year of me working from home but I’ve been thinking about time loop stories. Is it just me or have there been a lot of them lately?
I just watched The Map of Tiny Perfect Things this weekend*. Its sweet.
*The other movie I watched this weekend wasn’t a traditional time loop story but A Brief History of Time Travel does involve revisiting the same day several times.
I keep meaning to watch Palm Springs from last year.
According to Wikipedia there were a dozen time loop movies from 2017-2019.
I’ve seen it pop up in some fairly recent television shows like Agents of SHIELD and the Magicians.
Anyone have any favorites? Least favorites?
Groundhog Day isn’t actually first one but I think it’s the standard that they all get measured against (for good reason).
The Endless Eight arc of Haruhi Suzumiya is an extreme low point of a series I generally enjoy.

I've heard good things about the "Happy Death Day" movie buut haven't watched it myself.

Date: 2021-03-17 08:35 am (UTC)The first BlazBlue had a cool time loop gimmick. I’ve heard good things about the Zero Escape trilogy.
I think The Twilight Zone did one or two. While not strictly a time loop per se, (minor spoilers) Doctor Who’s Heaven Sent was fantastic.

Date: 2021-03-16 12:09 pm (UTC)Small comfort is that this outfit is in Animal Crossing New Horizons, so virtual me has it as their default outfit.
Battlebots newest season ended in the best possible way, but I always want more (and I need a justification for my Sling subscription).
Have not seen the DuckTales finale yet. Sigh. 3 Seasons, but he'll let's give Rick and North another 100 episodes.
back in January, Tazmin Merchant spoke about Carnival Row in an ew.com interview:
"It sounds like such a minor setback. Anyway, you also have season 2 of Carnival Row coming up, which I read wrapped filming in August?
We finished the first five in August. We're not wrapped. I don't know when it's going to be out, it's been such a weird year for that. If not for COVID, it would have been out ages ago."
How many other shows are still filming despite this? Isn't The Boys already filming again? Between that and Truth Seekers getting canned, I'm annoyed.

Date: 2021-03-16 11:31 pm (UTC)It's very, very plot heavy (going back to questions in the first episode), and lays on a few central messages with a trowel, but it's rarely been subtle.
And given how many cameos there are (including yet another Disney Afternoon series that was the LAST thing I expected ever to feature, so... I guess the timing was about right) the fact they managed to get anything done is quite achievment, never mind give all the main cast more than one chance to shine in ways that make sense for their characters.
I genuinely laughed out loud as I heard one piece of music play (You'll know why when you hear it), and I confess I got a little teary-eyed at a couple of points.
If it has to end, and I really wish it hadn't because this has been so much fun, this is a good episode to end on, because it answers a lot of questions, but doesn't actually end anything significantly.

Date: 2021-03-16 04:57 pm (UTC)The dog, who is not a spring chicken by any stretch, suddenly got much worse on Saturday. She's already had severe problems, including forgetting that you're supposed to pee outside, and her back legs going out, but this weekend was just... she didn't seem to know where she was or what she was doing, didn't want to go for a walk (well, no difference there), and just plain stopped eating, and there was a lot of talk of... well...
Monday morning we took her to the vets, who figured it could just be yet more problems with her teeth, but... she still isn't eating.
And for a dog who's spent her entire life eating, wanting to eat, and trying to take anything that looks like it might potentially be food, that's...
There's also a lot of concern that, given her advanced age, she might not actually survive having another anesthetic.
Always a good start to the week thinking you're going to have to say goodbye to your pet.
(also had a dentist's appointment. Apparently dentists do not need this "bedside manner" crap. Oh, problems with your teeth? Whatever, we won't actually ask or tell you so you can work out how to fix them.)
....... anyway!
On a mad impulse, bought the G2 colours Megatron. He is deliciously tacky and I love him. So green and purple.
Might have to redo my run on Mass Effect 2 after buggering up the final mission something spectacular.
Mutter, grumble, mutter...

Date: 2021-03-16 07:27 pm (UTC)They are very pretty, and very comfortable because they are the closest thing to not wearing anything.
Obviously you can only wear them when it's hot, which is why Summer is my favourite season. I despise winter/autumn clothes such as sweaters.

Date: 2021-03-16 08:06 pm (UTC)Perhaps relatedly I'm having a bout of existential dread. Not being able to definitely say when I watched a video for the first time, makes me feel like a fake person. *
*Update on both, I am currently feeling way better about both of these. 712 to go still.
I finished reading all the volumes of Revival that the local library had. Shame, because it was a pretty interesting story, and I don't want to be wasteful with my money (on this particular thing). Someone also left a crazed note in two of them saying "Covid is not about health, it's about CONTROL".
I also read "This Was Our Pact" which was a very moving comic. Apparently, it's getting an animated film, where Peter Dinklage will voice a talking bear, huuh.
The Walking Dead is back, and it's currently doing filler ---I mean character focused spotlight episodes. I kid, I enjoy that kind of stuff. Just one more season and it will be over.
Annoyingly on the university library website, they've renamed the Hold section, so I had to contact them and get them to explain they hadn't removed an incredible useful feature. In other news I've finally realized that Alan Moore's story is called Neonomicon. I've been mistaken since 2017.

Date: 2021-03-17 10:46 am (UTC)THAT was the moment I just lost it! :) I had recognised the voice actor about three seconds before the scene happened, but then the theme music kicked in and I made the connection and was instantly giggling like a loon.
