Yeah, he's like Bizarro Alan Moore. He can be a solid writer but it's clear he just wants to be an idea guy and pitch movies that turn out better than his comics.
Still confused about Wanted though. That movie had so little to do with the comic that I don't get why they didn't make an original movie and cut him out.
(Granted, while swapping supervillians for assassins is an odd choice, I'm happy we don't see our protagonist sexually assault a pop star in the movie)
Yeah, but the title is just about the only thing they kept. "Wanted" is generic enough a title anyway.
It'd be like saying you're making a show about Vertigo's Lucifer and then making a show where the devil helps the cops solve crimes instead. Satan is in the public domain; you don't need to cut DC a check if you're not using their version of the character. Was the nightclub really THAT important to them?.
As the Jupiter saga was posted here recently, something I realized that despite all my criticism towards the series, it actually has a pretty decent show in it if some things are just worked on. And while it is just a trailer, it actually made me hopeful with just some of the changes they showed here. For example, that maybe George's son with an African-American woman shouldn't look like one of the whitest people in the world.
Having written all that, holy hell that one wig is horrendous.
I didn't find the action scenes all THAT violent-I only recall the death of Lady Liberty standing out. Definitely nothing compared to the stuff you would see in Invincible.
The gore in Invincible never really bothered me since the art style was so cartoony and it was mostly aliens with blue blood. If it were live action it'd be horrific, though.

*I'd hope they tone that down in live action but Amazon's The Boys is a thing that exists so who knows.
