If I had superpowers a hot woman showing up and asking me "Ya wanna kick seven shades of shit out of some cops?" is all it would take to get me onboard right quick as well
And while I always love Kate, Emma, Bobby, Pyro and Ororo it was nice to see Bishop and the Morlocks get a moment to shine in this issue especially seeing things ending on such a positive note for the Morlocks
I feel so sorry for this girl here though
At least Bishop and Kate have made sure that Verendi won't be creating any more monsters like the reavers any time soon as in a scene that is not pictured in the above scans, Bishop blows Verendi's laboratories straight to hell
Huh. Was there a contigent of non-mutant homeless among the Morlocks? It makes sense- they were always more anti-mainstream than they were mutant ideologues.
I'd say I'm a little surprised they're cool working with a team calling themselves the Marauders, but Sinister and the folks directly responsible for the Mutant Massacre are running around Krakoa too, so I guess it's all water under the sewer at this point.
From what I remember the only one who sort of voiced an objection was Masque and even then it was more like "So are we okay with this?" than any serious offence
Given the way he's been written over in X-Force, it would be totally plausible that Hank is now going around turning people into Brute knock-offs for no reason whatsoever.
Brute and Hump were part of Masque's Morlocks back in the late days of the New Mutants... until Cable shot and killed Brute. Clearly, he was a recipient of a shiny new resurrection, which really makes me wonder about how they're determining resurrection queue priority (between A-listers who get to jump to the front of the line every time they're murdered, QUENTIN).
I agree, in-universe, that it's difficult to determine how they're deciding who gets resurrected. I actually get folks like Quentin jumping the line because dying on a mission for Krakoa should get you back immediately.
I assume there's a who-you-know thing going on but beyond that, maybe it's a lottery? You'd think they'd do all the heroes first then the regular people then the villains last, but maybe then the villains would revolt.
He's in a better place these days mentally and emotionally. He's actually getting to use his powers to help people and heal others and be accepted for his gift
Amazing the difference not being forced to live in a sewer can make to someone's approach to life
Yeah, I mentioned this before, but despite my misgivings about some of the stuff going on with this whole Krakoa thing, one thing I love is that they apparently set the Morlocks up with this posh country club, and Masque has gone from this horrible sewer mutant who turns people into monsters to this grumpy old man who hangs out on the golf course all day and will also fix your daughters cleft lip with a touch.
Like the whole Morlock thing is basically "Started from the bottom now we're here."
Masque is a weird case. Originally, he was hideous because he couldn't use his powers on himself, so he was all about hating the pretty people and making everyone else ugly, and getting revenge on the surface.
For a while, he was a mutant terrorist.
Then he got a secondary mutation which let him affect himself and he promptly became a beautiful woman, but still evil.
Now Masque is this vaguely corpselike yet dapper person who heals humans and plays golf. So... does he look like this on purpose because he wants to embrace a sense of otherness/ugliness, or is he stuck in this form? If he can alter himself, why this form in particular? If he can't... how'd he get this way? At any rate, I like the change in personality based, presumably, on acceptance and legitimacy.
Meanwhile, Bliss is STILL hanging around as a Jean Grey doppelganger, complete with X-Factor era uniform, which is actually a revision to her first appearance because for a while, Masque turned her into a Storm knock-off instead. So does Bliss just LIKE being knock-off X-Factor era Jean Grey?
You know, we've never actually seen Bliss' true/original/pre-Masqued form. For all we know, she was Black to begin with. I know that's highly unlikely, but it's a possibility.
Am I wrong or is this a story about a guy in a dapper suit who works in a hospital teaming up with four others to protect a poor community on an island nation while also owning a bar and holding a grudge against the other island nation that is supposed to accept them but only if they also forgive the people who killed them?
Because that is a book I want to read. There's a lot to explore here
Not seen here: Bobby and Pyro creating a giant ice-and-fire distraction out in the harbor. We don't see it, but I am convinced, and will be until told otherwise, that it's a giant ice penis shooting flames out of the tip.
I am disappointed that we did not get to see giant ice penis with flames shooting out of the tip.
Also, did Callisto set this up, cause the implication of the scene where the villains say they were told not to destroy the hospital seems to indicate that this whole fight was a set up
You're probably right based on the other pages I'm starting to remember, I was just suspicious of the dichotomy of Calisto using the hospital to get Masque involved and the bad guys saying they were told to leave the hospital alone.
The basic plan here, as I understand it, was to drive the inhabitants out of Lowtown and raze it to make room for luxury high-rises (unscrupulous real-estate developers are the enemy that never goes out of style). In that context, it makes a certain amount of sense- a brand new high-end hospital nearby is only going to be good for property values, once they get rid of all the people for whom it was built.
Given that he turned neo-nazis into cyborg monsters and then turned them loose on a poor Asian community to murder innocent people so that rich bigots can gentrify their country for disgusting rich manchildren
I would say the only "Potential" I'm interested in seeing with him is all the potential ways someone could kill the little bastard
He's certainly more skilled at doing evil than the others
The little pig tailed freak is just an escapee from the Overlook Hotel and MurderCorpse and What's His Name have one braincell between them and they aren't willing to share
No, it was Homines Verendi, a racist human supremacist terrorist group run by those disgusting little brats from Jason Aaron's Wolverine and the X-men book who were behind this

Also, I'm glad they don't have her looking like Storm anymore, because, uh, that's a bit too much blackface.
