"The reason [Batman] puts on the costume is because criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot. And one of the big things that Miracle Molly says to him in this issue is that it’s not just the criminals. Everyone in Gotham is a superstitious and cowardly lot. Society kind of pushes us into that position." -- James Tynion IV

I like Miracle Molly already

I love her reaction to Bruce going "Billionaires are people too" where she's just like "Yeah and I don't give a damn , still gonna rob 'em" because any hero who is happy to break the law and rob some rich people blind is the kind of hero I dig

Molly is the kind of character I want to see more of in superhero fiction and the kind of character I instantly root for. Her and Ghost Maker are making this title more interesting to me. They're definitely a welcome change after years of Tom King's "writing"

I like her too, but she is not radical enough. She thinks of Gotham, the people of it, but from world perspective even Crime Alley Gothamites are filthy rich. The Gordons are supposed to be a relatable middle class family, but even I, who come from a well to do family in a developed country, could never hope to own what they own.

She and the Unsanity Collective could definitely do more

So she had decided a whole class of people are bad and anything she does to them is justified because it helps another class of people.

Sure this won't go horribly wrong at all.

Sometimes an entire class of people is bad.

Rapists are bad. Billionaires are bad.

Plus she is robbing them, not harming them. If it goes horribly wrong, it's because writers love to make villains who point out problems jump down the slippery slope so the hero is morally justified in ignoring those problems.

Then they can have the designated hero mouth some centrist bollocks that sounds like a spoken word song by John Lennon and pretend that this will fix everything

I'm hoping Tynion won't go that route though. It doesn't seem like he will here. And he pleasantly surprised me with Ghostmaker so I hope he will with Molly as well and won't try and turn her into a villain

Bruce: I told you about the Walrus and me, man.

Molly: I don't see how that applies to the exploitation of the...

Bruce: You know that we're as close as can be, man.

Molly: You're not really addressing the deeper societal-

Bruce: Looking through the glass onion! Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.

Molly: Did Neal Adams take over this book while I wasn't paying attention?

She'll know for certain if Bruce starts calling people a Jelly Roll and tries to blow Robin up

In fairness, actual Neal Adams dialogue would have been more like.

Bruce: I told you about the Walrus...

Molly: The Walrus?

Bruce: Pay attention... The Walrus.

Narration Box: Batman had told her about the Walrus.

Molly: Who else?

Bruce: Me! I told you about the Walrus... and me!

Narration Box: I hadn't told her... Not about the Walrus.

IDK I feel like that would be more Frank Miller's take

Though only if the Walrus then has a monologue about how the Liberal Snowflakes are getting in the way of REAL JUSTICE and how the Walrus is the Hard Man who will make the Hard Choices

What is it with you and randomly dropping in centrist as an insult? It makes you sound like a Jreg character.

Then of course, you are unlikely to ever meet a billionaire in your lives let alone lay hands onto one, so you're more likely to project that hatred upon the Kulaks

If there's one thing we can learn from history, it's that people don't learn from history

Tynion is really doing fun stuff with this book and not just introducing neat new elements, but giving them room to breathe.

I'm already so invested in the inevitable conflict between Bruce and Molly.

I'm hoping there won't be a conflict. But if there is I'm rooting for Molly
