I have to say when I first heard about this book, of all the ways I thought things might go here "Aliens invade and destroy almost the entire human race" was not one of them

The bit with Twitter would work if it was just people reacting to things they had seen or news reports but the fact that it has people tweeting about how they're body is turning into goo or they just watched someone they know have their eyes explode just makes this look like an old man going "Those wacky millenials and the way they livetweet while they're melting into goo because of alien space weapons"

I am pretty sure that if someone's skin was melting their first thought would not be "Gotta see if Twitter has a good "My skin is melting" emoji for when I update my followers about this"

I probably would agree before seeing a bunch of people livetweeting their COVID symptoms last year. Someone I follow kept making "welp guess I'm about to die" jokes up until he got intubated.
