I really hate that beard. I almost feel bad about hating it because it's the one noticeable design difference between the Guardians of the Galaxy and their MCU counterparts.

The beard makes him look like he's going to force a Skrull family out of their homes so he can gentrify their neighbourhood

It's got the charm that's come to be associated with the Guardians, but coming on the heels of the dead-on-arrival live service Avengers game, my expectations are tempered severely. It's also got that intangibly cheap quality that comes from trying to ape the appearance and feeling of the movies, where everyone just looks like they're starring in an Asylum produced knockoff of the real deal.

Still, they didn't lead by talking about live service stuff this time, and focusing on one playable character probably means good things for the gameplay, so it's not all bad news.

This isn’t a live-service game, this is strictly a single player story-based thing like Insomniac’s Spider-Man stuff.

I wish the Guardians of the Galaxy's designs hadn't been sacrificed in the name of brand synergy. Please I just want some variety!

I’m looking forward to this, but I really don’t like how the games and TV shows have to synergise with the MCU. That hurt LEGO MARVEL Superheroes 2 and all but killed MARVEL vs. Capcom Infinite, and Man of Action’s TV universe was so... bleh.

And it got Avengers: EMH cancelled which was a show I liked even though I am not a big fan of the Avengers in the comics

I honestly liked the EMH version of them better than either the MCU or comics versions

Only playing as Starlord is pretty weaksauce.

That's a genuinely baffling choice, given how dull a character he is.

If the game is truly a choice-based narrative, you pretty much have to play as only one character, because the story branches increase in number esponentially if you make decisions from multiple POVs.

Starlord is the one who keeps the others from tearing each other's head off, so it makes sense for him to be that POV, even if he is the least interesting in the team.
