I've been feeling crazy since the Dark Ages announcement, but like, didn't this series already come out? Like, it was written by Tom Taylor, there was some kind of EMP plot device? Iron Man plowed through a building when his armor lost power? Like, I thought this already happened???
Still more than a little annoyed by the sense that Inferno is the first time Hickman's paying anything off after the entirety of his X-Men run was setup, but I'm still glad to see this stuff actually happening.
Another Demon Days book from Peach Momoko is cool.
Gillen recontextualizing Thanos in his new Eternals mythology sounds very exciting.
Still somewhat skeptical of John Ridley on Black Panther. It's great that Marvel is continuing to treat Black Panther as a seriously prestigious title, but Ridley's hit and miss.
The whole Black, White, and Blood imprint is really strange. Wolverine, then Carnage, now Deadpool. I don't hate it, but still, it would be nice if this could just be one anthology series instead of having to be always married to this marketable characters.
A Winter Guard book is kind of cool, but I'd kinda like to see a non-American creative team involved. There are tons of talented writers and artists coming out of Russian and Eastern Europe, and I'd much rather see them do something thoughtful than have an American writer default to a bunch of stereotypes.
That Steve McNiven Moon Knight cover is gorgeous, and a little outside of McNiven's usual style. There's a bit of a Paul Pope energy to it.
Marauders looks like Sebastien Shaw is back in fighting form, that's interesting.
I still don't love the Arakko/Mars stuff, nor the somewhat predictable choice of Storm for the role of Regent, but I hope from the solicitation text that Ewing is planning to push back against the frequent trend of enshrining Storm in these positions of "power" and "regality" while not letting her do stuff as a character.
Miles Morales 10th anniversary is a great time to look back and ask "How much of this is actually good, and how much is just a good idea?" It's not a good ratio. Also, that new costume is... something, considering his standard look is already a great spin on Peter Parker's costume and got some much appreciative tweaks in the movie which still haven't been reflected in the comics.
Excellent Silver Surfer cover to FF: Life Story.
It's quite amusing to see the TPB for Extreme Carnage being solicited before the event has even started. On the one hand, great that they're keeping things short, on the other: really putting the cart before the horse.
Definitely gonna snap up that DWJ Beta Ray Bill TPB.
