Lotta one-shots coming out of the Spider-Man office right now, huh? I guess it tracks with them gearing up for the thrice-monthly schedule of the upcoming run, but I'd probably be annoyed if I were reading the title on a monthly basis, since it's hard to know which of these matter.

The recent giant-size issues have all been conclusions to their respective arcs. Idk why they need to be separate from ASM but it’s probably to keep #75 open for the next team.

Also, you can NOT "force" people to give you truth by torturing or threatening them; at best, that will only make them say what they think you'll want to hear

I've never said this in all my years of readership, but I do not get what is going on in this Spider-Man comic.

My best guess is that the pages with the Chameleon shown here were a dark fantasy, but given the rest of the issue, it strikes me as almost equally possible that they really happened. If so, Teresa's internal narrative is the sham consciousness of a secondary Chameleon who's back under deep cover even to herself. Chameleon Prime, AKA Dmitri, in that scenario, exposed her long enough to do a quick reprogramming while she was in stunned denial.

But in either case, why is she destroying the Clairvoyant? Peter just asked her to keep it safe. Because she doesn't want to look into her own past? Is that a good enough reason to lie to Big or possibly Little Bro? Teresa, you know you can just decide not to use things without needing to poetically destroy them, right? This isn't the One Ring, here. Lock it in a safe and act like you don't know where it is, and those I-must-know cravings will subside by Friday.

Because she's acting under orders? From whom? Would the Chameleon want it taken out of play so nobody sees him coming? But why wouldn't he just have her bring it to him?

Don't tell me it's something like "Because no one should ever have such power," either. That was partly Jamie's motive for giving the device up, but Teresa wasn't around for any of that. It's generally Peter who does the moralistic philosophizing, not Teresa and definitely not any Chameleons.

I'm just plain out of ideas that make any sense. Which may be something I have in common with Marvel, where Teresa's concerned.

(Side note: for such a valuable piece of equipment, that thing is EXTREMELY breakable. It's a minor miracle they even recovered it in one piece. It's a minor miracle it didn't shatter the first or second time anyone used it.)

(Side note II: how is "the ability to see the future the ability to know your past," anyhow? That sounded smart when Chameleon said it, but it seems more likely to show her some future spy mission or unmarked grave than anything in any way revelatory about her childhood.)
