Storm (and the rest of the population) losing her powers again would be hard, sure, but I think there's a more immediate problem. Krakoa's powers are... being an island ecosystem? Or being conscious? Either way, it's probably a bad time if they stop functioning.
I am amused by Red Skull taking time to explain the acronym he came up with for his latest source of PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER.
I also feel as though T'Challa probably would have shown up with his own exo-suit, since he's already half-way a tech-based character, but maybe he and Tony collaborated.
Especially since this is, AFAIK, an alternate reality title.
At first I was sure it was a tie-in to a mobile game revolving around characters powering up by claiming bits of Infinity Mirror Shards to enhance their armor or something.
I wonder who the Avengers lost fighting Thanos. Going by who we see in the fight and who we see later on, it looks as though Thor, Wanda, Natasha and Bruce might all have been casualties, assuming they didn't just quit or weren't available for the ceremony.
I mean this feels like a self-contained not-especially-in-continuity thing so I think you're right as far as out-of-book ramifications. But if they're going to cut to Krakoa Island in the middle of their mini-montage of depowerings, it's going to raise questions, at least for me!
Why would T'Challa bother with making the suit heavier? The one he currently uses is tough enough thanks to vibranium, and has Wakandan tech integrated.
Also, no powers is kinda arbitrary. Cap's come from chemical tech, heart shaped herb is natural... what is power and what is tech or just naturally acquired? Where's the difference?
Though none will ever top the issue of New Avengers where they get zapped with a depowering machinery, and Hawkeye becomes unable to hold his bow.
And there was a Cap story where the serum was deactivated yet again, he turned back to skinny Steve... but was still able to fight because losing his muscles didn't mean he'd forgotten how to fight.
In all fairness, I don't think the Infinity Mirror Shards (or, as Skull calls them, I.M.S) are a genie responding literally to his verbal instructions- he's using them to depower the folks he's fighting, and anyone he considers a threat so he can gloat and mock them before they die- announcing "No more powers," aloud is just part of that gloating.
None of which, admittedly, explains why he didn't bother to deconstruct Tony's armor in mid-air along the way. C'mon Skull, you're being outthought in terms of "Eliminate the threat of these heroes," by Owen frickin' Reese- that has to be embarrassing.
With regards to T'challa- presumably he derives some benefit in a combat situation from having consumed the Heart-Shaped Herb, and an upgrade to the suit to compensate for the loss of that in the wake of depowering would make a certain amount of sense. Would T'challa's version be a big bulky armor suit? Probably not, that's not the usual design vibe I get from him.
*Vibranium armor suits for each Avenger burst through the wall*
T'CHALLA: That's why.
PETER: Ooh, could I have a T'Challa suit instead?
TONY: Excuse me?! What's wrong with the one I made you?
PETER: Tony, I appreciate it and all, but last time you made me a suit it had three extra legs. Not four, three. I looked like I didn't know how to count to eight.
For a moment I thought Ms. Marvel's hand had stayed 'embiggened' post power loss and thought that was going to be a difficult thing to explain to her parents.
Anyone remember the 1996 "Total Justice" series where, in a blatant effort to shift toys of the same name, the JLA (and Robin) gained weird looking armour sorry "Fractal Tech Gear" because the island they were investigating nullified powers.
Memorable for a scene where all the heroes have been facing illusory enemies and Tim gets all excited because HIS illusion is better than everyone elses,,,
Dignified ignoring followed by contemptuous SHHZZAAACCKK!!ing does seem more or less how Darkseid would respond to a teched up Robin wandering around poking him a buzzsaw.
Considering how common it is for superheroes to travel through the air, how many do you think just got killed by gravity?
How did Tony design a suit for Peter that would let him duplicate his super-flexibility?
And how thoughtful was it of Reed to design shorts for Ben that would automatically cinch at the waist? You'd think he could Bruce some pants with the same material.
I recall Tony building suits for all the Avengers in an old What If issue. I think there was something similar in Earth X, only that version didn't have anyone inside the suits.
So, without his healing factor, Wolverine is slowly dying from adamantium poisoning, right? Also, last time there was a major power nullification, the Decimation, hundreds of mutants died from just, like, falling out of the sky. I assume the same happened here, but on a larger scale, since it wasn't just mutants, but everyone with powers.
