I was kinda ready for a break from Venom after Cates' run... I loved his characterization as a father trying to atone but barely holding himself together, but I wasn't so keen on how the story kept building up him and his son as THE MOST IMPORTANT BEINGS WHO HAVE EVER LIVED. But I haven't seen Al Ewing put a foot wrong yet and this preview is intriguing, so I'll give it a shot.

I wasn't interested in the least when I saw that there was going to be a new Venom series. Then I saw Al Ewing was involved. Now I am intruiged. If anybody can make me care about Venom again, Ewing can.

The concept of Venom as a space god / superhero is a very bizarre take.
Bizarre enough to give a look, despite the Hitch art.
(Okay, maybe I'm also in it for the Kang. A bit.)

Plus, it's Venom not written by Cates, so it won't be all about how Swear Word is super-duper awesome and cool.


And, uh... just asking, but isn't Free Comic Book Day usually a lot earlier in the year?

Like the Gamma Flight mini, this is a book written by Al Ewing and another person.

Yeah, he's writing this one with Ram V, current writer of Catwoman and Swamp Thing at DC, something of an up and comer.
