Rainbow Heart is an art project of my friend. It grew out of frustration about the extremely queerphobic current situation in Poland, and specifically one real life event in which young woman was verbally assaulted and had her rainbow flag destroyed because she forgot to hide it after taking part in a queer event. The idea was, what if there was a hero intervening in cases of queerphobic violence? From this, Rainbow Heart was born. The first chapter of the comic (25 pages, but nearly 100 if you count first drafts and character design pages) was published two days ago, and the whole thing is avaible on the comic’s fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067431476030 The comic is in Polish, but I’ll summarize the plot between the pages.

The story opens on X, one of the main characters, finding herself in the situation mentioned at the begining. She prepares herself to fight when somebody intervenes, making herself another target of homophobic violence. However, she’s not as powerless as she seems.

She defeats the attackers and humilates them. I absolutely loved this page, seeing it felt catharctic to me.
The rest of the chapter deals with civilian lives of X and Rainbow Heart as well as hints at the source of the latter’s powers. It’s not really a good comic, but some of my absolutely favorite webcomics started with similarly amateurish art. It has a special place in my heart because of the setting, the catharsis factor I mentioned before, and the fact that the author is my friend.
Note: Edited for pronoun consistency. In the comic, both X and Rainbow Heart use feminine pronouns, but Polish doesn't allow for gender-neutral pronouns and X is nonbinary.
