Way of X #5 - "The Fall"
Sep. 15th, 2021 04:58 pm
Funnily enough the way the X-line has propagated from the House of X/Powers of X beginning, it runs in parallel to how a new state has to set itself up in the real world. Which is, you start from a position of "we are new, we are perfect, nothing is wrong with us." Then, over time, it becomes quite clear that actually it's not perfect, and probably they knew it wasn't perfect from the beginning. -- Si Spurrier

Date: 2021-09-17 01:06 pm (UTC)They haven't spent over a hundred years fucking the planet into a coma in the name of big oil while actively working to prevent anything that might solve the problem and pretending the problem doesn't exist because that would get in the way of making them money
So
I'd say that yeah, unless that happens, they're still superior to humanity in regard how they're treating their planet

Date: 2021-09-17 01:19 pm (UTC)If you value long term planning as to the planet's ability to maintain a stable ecosystem capable of supporting life (and really whether you privilege sapient lifeforms or not) Krakoa's expansionist policies immediately resulted in them coming with eleven minutes, and one conveniently placed (not planned, mind you) synergy of mutant powers, away from planetary scale annihilation. That is not a great record.

Date: 2021-09-17 03:29 pm (UTC)I value a planet based entirely on what it gives the people who own it and how long we can get use out of it. Because I view this planet and all other planets as lumps of rock and dirt that exist to be useful to those who own them
I don't think that humanity destroying the earth is a bad thing because of the Precious Sacred Nature of Mother Earth or any of that hippy nonsense. Its a bad thing because it will negatively affect humanity and more importantly it might negatively affect me in my lifetime.
I'm fine with Mutantkind terraforming every single unoccupied planet in the entire universe for their own personal use. So long as they make sure that they make sure the planet is a stable habitat for their use and they don't fuck it up for future generations who will own it as well
And it seems like they're doing a better job at that than we have

Date: 2021-09-17 07:19 pm (UTC)Edit: Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe the failure to predict the moon falling and killing everyone on the planet had less to do with motivated reasoning vis a vis their domestic and interstellar agendas, and was caused by Onslaught or Orchis or Galactus doing an unscheduled fly-by, in which case I'll gladly order a Prince of Sturmhalten's Big Bet next time I'm in Mechanicsburg.

Date: 2021-09-17 01:58 pm (UTC)While this is the only book currently unselling the Mars achievement (Ewing and Duggan are still doing a good job with building its potential), I think this is a bad sign of things to come with destructive writers moving in.
I’m expecting to save a lot of money not buying new direction X-books in 2022.
