I first read this is a trade collecting various stories about different Spidey villains. I used to think Carnage was so cool back in the day. I even had the Maximum Carnage game for SNES.

If I remember correctly, the theme of Marvel's annuals from this year were the villain's point of view. The previous year, the theme was introducing rad new characters. So, various iterations of some rando with powered armour and, um... Adam-X: THE EXTREME!!!

Now there's a fight I'd like to see: Adam-X vs. Carnage.

Could one comic possibly contain that much eDgE?

Sad thing is Adam was one of the more well-remembered of the entries. X-Cutioner was kind of a bigger success but it less remembered because

I think Legacy was the real winner for a while--he even had his own series and is part of Bill Jemas lore. But the name "Captain Marvel" is probably going to be kept by Carol for quite some time, and Hulkling has the "Mar-Vell's heir" thing locked up.

Bloodwraith didn't completely disappear, and he's probably Dane Whitman's first real archenemy, so I wouldn't be surprised if he got dusted off.

Yeah, they're probably the only memorable ones, and even then it's to various differing degrees. Adam-X and X-Cutioner would make a few more appearances over the years. Adam was even the subject of the first two issues of X-Men Legends.

Genis-Vell even had his own series for a while.

I think Bloodwraith was last seen during the Busiek/Perez run of Avengers.

I actually own this comic.

Not really much to add here.

Okay I have something to add: Of course Carnage falls for the stupidest ploy in the book: Goad the villain into turning back into his normal form so the hero can sucker punch him.

I feel like this was a little more cleverly implemented, using their bond to instigate the change, rather than something like "I bet you're not so tough without your suit!"

And who knows, maybe deep down, he was hoping to reach "Clete."
