Wolverine, thinking about possibly murdering a teenage girl. That's... not a good look on you, bub. I mean sure, there was the time you tried murdering Rachel back in the '80s, but since then...
I once theorized that Logan was trying to fill some sort of familial void--maybe memories of a daughter he'd forgotten--by constantly picking up teenage girl sidekicks. (Kitty, Jubilee, Armor... and adopting Amiko before promptly dropping her off again) And this was long before Laura showed up as an almost more literal daughter.
Also, Billy Kaplan. For being too dangerous in the way he took down some terrorists, if I remember correctly. Apparently knocking crowds of mooks out with magic is beyond the pale, but carving them into bullion cubes is just fine and dandy.
The problem with Billy was: 1- He was Wanda 2.0 in a time where Wanda was still stranded after her meltdown post House of M 2- He didn't knock out only the terrorists, he sent to sleep everyone included the Avengers in an instinctive boom of magic when Teddy was threatened
I mean, she did just sic a big black bear on him. I can understand it as "in the moment" thinking, and I'm not sure there are many who wouldn't think the same thing in the moment-- that is, assuming they were able to think past just surviving the experience.
I'm really bothered about the artist drawing a brown bear but then giving it Asian bear colouring. The same problem appeared in previous issue, where the sea turtle looked like a giant tortoise with flippers.
We have a young, misguided teenage mutant with a dangerous power running around. Better send the short, hairy murder-claw-man with anger problems a disturbingly high number of young women and girls on his own side he's stabbed for a superhero comic to convince her to come to Krakoa!
"Misguided"? She thinks the animals she's manipulating are helping her because they want to. What animal risks its life for something it has no connection to? Especially birds? For the crime of not caring that a turtle choked to death, she stabbed a man in the neck. Nature Girl is dangerously deluded and needs intense mandatory therapy or a trip down the hole if she kills anyone else.
She'd be dangerously deluded in our universe. In a world where the planet itself has a voice she just might be totally sane. Well, except for the fact that she's homicidal, possibly due to her mutant abilities and the stress they put on her.
Okay, but instead of responding to that by sending a team of reasonable Mutants carrying hear and multiple powers to either rtalk her down or subdue her you send James "Escalate Situations to Deadly Violence Always all the Time" Howlett?!
She broke the first law of Krakoa and is creating a PR disaster while the entire human world has their guns targeted on mutantkind. She'll be lucky if she gets into the resurrection queue, the way that the Krakoan monarchy rules.
It would be a much better option to find another mutant on Krakoa that Nature Girl knows and respects to try and talk her down. Or a telepath to make her do so, if need be.
There's no need to get a killer involved unless the rogue mutant has some massively destructive power, and someone that can talk to animals hardly fits the bill there. Hell, given that Wolverine would have to personally fight every beast she sends against him, he's WORSE than many of the other options Prof X could have sent!
Also, why does Nature Girl still wear her school uniform? Is it just an immovable part of her character model?
I mean, my first thought would be Emma, actually. Telepathy to shut down Nature Girl's control/help her get a handle on it, and diamond skin should let her no-sell pretty much anything Nature Girl can throw out her short of like, whatever specialized anti-diamond fish Atlantis bred to fight in the ancient diamond wars or whatever.
Just... maybe don't mention that thing with the horse.
Are we supposed to be supporting her? The girl who shanked someone for not caring about a turtle? He didn't make the bag. He didn't fail to recycle the bag. He didn't toss the bag in the ocean. Yet he gets stabbed in the neck. She's forcing her will on animals, endangering their lives. Nothing she's doing is going to make a difference and at this rate, she better end up in the hole by the end of this story or there truly is no point to this "never kill humans" law.
I want to say of course not, but considering how Marauders has been written and that they’re pushing the whole “mutants aren’t human”/“are inherently better than humans” angle here... bleh.
She is ridiculously enough talking about "darkness in you" as a good thing so she is clearly on the level of old villains openly referring themself as "evil mutants". She is okay with being the villain apparently.
Wait, is the last sequence on Krakoa even though she just said she's not going back? I know she's just getting stuff for her journey, but a) she's shown she can just steal the stuff she needs, and b) why would the Krakoan gates work freely for someone who just broke Krakoa's laws?
It's been shown that Cypher and Sage keep a record of everyone who uses the gates, so obviously there's some system in place. But the gates will work for all mutants, no matter what (except Kate Pryde for some reason), so even though they can see Nature Girl using them, they can't stop her.
While Logan falling afoul of a literal mama bear while trying his "my way or the morgue" approach on yet another teenager tickles my funnybone, didn't his introductory appearance involve him getting in a three-way fight with the Hulk and the Wendigo with less injury than this?/
Personally I'm just reminded of the X-men cartoon (the first episode, maybe?) where he gruffly declares that he's going off to do his cool loner thing and find Jubilee, and later returns to gruffly declare that he couldn't find her, and also, he got bit by a dog.
Personally, the 'maybe I'll put her in the rez queue' strikes me as more of a 'internal monologue of frustration joke' category than a statement of intent. I mean, he didn't even kill the bear that mauled him. As for why they might have chosen to send Logan...he was her headmaster for some time, so I assume they were thinking 'hey, hopefully she still looks to you as an authority figure, go try and talk her down', combined with his ability to survive a lot of punishment. Would Emma or Kitty have made more sense? Likely so, but...you know, the Wolverine factor. I had to google who Curse was.
