Cautiously optimistic for Steve Orlando on Marauders. I enjoyed his runs on Midnighter and Wonder woman but his work tend to be very...inconsistent.

Defenders: could the Masked Raider be the 616!Kyle Richmond?

New Mutants: huh, so THAT'S why they're bringing back Maddie Pryor.

Very interested in seeing Victor LaValle writing a Marvel comic.

Devil's Reign reminds me of Fear State.

I don't hate Slott, so I'm curiious about this reckoning war stuff.

I could be wrong but I thought The Marvels was solicited as being six-issues long. Either I'm misremembering it or it's selling well enough for them to keep it around, which I kinda doubt.

I'll definetely be picking up She-Hulk.

Sad to see Gerry Duggan leave the book but Orlando is a good choice for replacing him

I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll make sure the book has the same energy that's made it one of the favorities on my pull list

Speaking of X-writers

Very very happy to see that Vita Ayala is staying on New Mutants after the current story arc wraps up

And the next arc looks cool!

And I'm glad we'll be getting more Gerry Duggan-penned Emma in the pages of the Devils Reign miniseries

The Marvels was always an ongoing series. You might be mixing it up with some of the other Marvels books that came out around the same time, like Marvel (no 's') or Marvels Snapshot, which were minis.

It sucked that Felicia's solo book ended with Infinity Nonsense, but I'm glad MacKay still gets to write her. Plus, a team-up with Mary Jane. What could possibly go wrong?

Always happy to see the Simonsons working together, but a return to Weezi's New Mutants? Time will tell, I suppose.

Looks like She-Hulk will be worth reading again, so I will be all over that!

I think Ewing on Venom turned out be just for the first arc, mostly onboarding Ram V into writing for Marvel. Which is a little weird, considering that Ram V is pretty established over the past couple of years.

It also leaves things up in the air as to what Ewing's next major project might be.

I will be disappointed if that is the case, but I will still stick with the book as I have really enjoyed Ram V's work on Catwoman.

Still can't believe that the Reckoning War is happening. I hope that Slott won't do dirty to his OC like Gauntlet or Southpaw. And that Jack of Hearts is not there as a redshirt.
Not only more Wolverine, but also Sabretooth? Ugh...
Marauder's new line up looks way better than the initial one.
I'm impressed that Strange Academy is still going on. Maybe I'll go back to it at some point. When I'm sure it doesn't end like Avengers Academy.

Most of the X-books are skipping January, since there's going to be a post-Inferno relaunch. If you notice, the only X-books are the X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine, Sabretooth, Marauders Annaul, and NM #25.

I doubt that’ll lead to much, but I’m intrigued with Black Panther. Apart from being exes and her stealing a Wakandan artefact not too long ago, the X-Men these days are the sort of colonisers and genetic purity nuts Wakanda isolated themselves from in the first place.

T'challa and the royal family of Wakanda as a whole have specifically said on panel that they support mutantkind and Krakoa in general

And I'm not sure what comics you've been reading if you think that Wakanda would be againt the idea of a people who have been persecuted and oppressed by racists creating a homeland where they are free from that kind of garbage and using any means necessary to protect themselves from bigotry and oppression from said hateful garbage

Also we've already seen that T'challa and Storm are still on mostly good terms and when Abigail Brand asked Wakanda for help during the Last Annihilation they were happy to assist and work alongside the Shi'ar and Storm in her role as queen of Arakko

They're on such good terms that T'Challa ordered the Krakoan Gate destroyed the moment Storm left.

They worked it out tho

Honestly compared to some of the disagreements between superheroes in the Marvel universe that's pretty much the equivalent of yelling at your roommate because they forgot to do the dishes

The Avengers and the X-men have both had disagreements between teammates that led to them nearly killing each other

I mean, based on a Bleeding Cool article I saw*, Marvel didn't realize this was issue 200 until the last minute so I'm not sure this issue will actually have any major significance. There's a good chance the X-Men's relationship with Wakanda will be completely changed by whoever takes over for Hickman.

*We know they're never wrong (sarcasm).

X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine
When this was first announced I thought that it was maybe going to be a Wolverine-centric look back at some of the previous timelines we glimpsed through Moira X, so I'm disappointed to see that this is seemingly just more bog standard Wolverine flashback stuff. Still, it looks like it might be touching on the long-ignored Technarchy/Phalanx stuff, given the glowy tech stuff on the some of the covers, so that would be cool.

Amazing Spider-Man #87
This has to be a red herring, they aren't really about to do the whole "Peter makes a heroic return" story after only twelve issues, right? I mean I know it was inevitable, and 12 issues is the convenient length of two TPBs, but it hasn't even been six months.

Sabretooth
I might be alone here, but I'm actually super pumped for this. Sabretooth is literally the body lying beneath the foundation of Krakoan society, a debatably wronged party who isn't sympathetic, but nonetheless may have a legitimate grievance. This could either be really good, the kind of reckoning I've been waiting for, or utterly underwhelming.

Reckoning War
Slott was blessed to have Ewing to make his last event comic halfway readable, not optimistic about this long simmering pet project of his when he's the only one writing it.

The Thing
Love the Thing, the creative team is great, I'm hyped.

Marauders Annual
Steve Orlando is great, and I think he'd be a really good replacement for Duggan who could potentially address some of the blindspots that book had under Duggan's pen.

FF: Life Story
Russell's weird, underwhelming riff on FF history that turned out to not actually be at all concerned with the FF's history comes to a close. I might end up reading this is trade, but it sounds like an underwhelming follow up to Spider-Man: Life Story (itself a book which I found deeply underwhelming).

I read somewhere that the Spider-Man Beyond storyline would last maybe 19 issues, wrapping up by #94, giving them time to spin their wheels for one last story before the big anniversary. So yeah, welcome back Peter?

(Well, there is a good chunk of people who wished American comics worked more like manga.)

When Slott tries he's a great writer but when he gets the big assignments he tends to phone it in. She Hulk, Thing, The Spidey/HT mini, and Silver Surfer were all great auditions for the F4 but now that he has the job ...*shrug*.

Same thing happened with Spider-Man. However the better stories where the ones he was clearly dying to tell.

I'm not worried about RW being bad because he's wanted to tell that story for at least 20 years. I am hoping he wrote ahead because he is NOT a fast writer when he's making an effort and I fully expect Gage to help out again when the event runs late.
