Apologies for my ignorance of the character, but is Agatha Harkness a villain? I know she was the main antagonist of Wandavision, but from what I recall that was more of an outlier than anything.

Nope. For pretty much all of her history, Agatha's been a good 'un (if, admittedly, occasionally sinister as all get-out).

Ultimate Agatha Harkness was a villain, but that's... a whole thing.

Agatha isn't a malevolent force, but she has raised ruthless pragmatism to an art form.

Most notably, even in her relatively early appearances we found out that she allowed the Salem Witch Trial to proceed, because she wanted to thin out the weak. If the magic of those accused wasn't enough to save them, then they were better not diluting the magical talent pool.

Now the Salem Witch Trials were probably a bit different in the MU, since actual witches were a thing, but not THAT different, and it seems likely a lot of innocent non-magic users died horrible deaths.

Out of context that last couple of panels seems less like some same-y story arc about them being tempted away from each other and more like the start of an orgy which is what I would consider one of the perks of being space royalty

Pretty much.

We saw in the, sadly short-lived, Chris Yost/Marcus To New Warriors series that New Salem is now a secretive haven city for the magically displaced and mystical refugees (Evicted fey folk and nature spirits fleeing deforestation etc). Salem's Seven protect the city and it's residents when the need arises.
