What would happen if he wasn't given the anti-toxin? Nothing. Spider-Man is immune to vampirism (or at least Morbius's pseudo vamprisim). Pete has been bitten by Morbius plenty of times. Why would Ben be any different?

What's wrong with Morbius? He's acting like an animal here. Why'd he leave his arm behind?

I don't think Ben would be any different, but 1) Beyond may not know that, and 2) did anybody bother to tell the writers that?

While I'm at it, 3) why, in this world, would anybody trust a person whose name is literally Danger? and 4) is this version of Beyond Corp. a new version after the events of Nextwave, or is the corporate front still going strong despite there being no giant talking T-Rex pulling the strings? They seem just as shady as ever, of course.

Ewing's explanation was that Beyond Corporation are a bunch of extradimensional beings that dick around with people for fun. Thus, Nextwave happened, but the team had unknowingly been kidnapped into an alternate universe and it was all a cruel prank.

Hard to say if this version is Evil For Profit or Evil For Lulz. Spider-vampire hybrids work for either.

The Danger lady's name is suspiciously similar to Dirk Anger. Possible relative or Dirk in a female clone body? She seems a little too sane for the latter though.

Dirk Anger. D.Anger. Danger. Hmm. Could be a connection. Though Dirk Anger was supposed to be more of a parody of Nick Fury than anything else. Was the D. Anger thing intentional at the time?

Morbius doesn't seem to happy about it. He's trying to cure himself and the mere smell of blood can send him into a frenzy. I guess being a living vampire means he doesn't get the corruption part of it.

Well he was until Joss Whedon came along and stole the whole "reluctant vampire detective" gimmick for a Buffy spin-off anyway.

I adore the staff here.

They have this sudden horrible realization their boss is a legit mad scientist, and their response is to push for ethics......while trying not to say anything that might make their boss decide to turn them into lizard people or something. That's the absolutely correct response in that situation.

If they worked on a cure for cancer, that'd probably backfire on them as well, and create some sort of horrible cancer zombie. Or some sort of human-eating blob monster.

Vampiders are clearly a safer bet.

IIRC, there was a time in the 1990s when Peter was bit by Morbius and his whole sense of balance was messed up.

This caused a scene where Shocker nearly murdered Peter but realising that he was weakened by vertigo which the writers seemed to think was a full on psychedelic freak out, refused to kill him in this state

The Shocker is a man of principle

I always liked the Shocker. The costume may be silly, but it's highly functional. He's not evil, just looking to make a name for himself and fill his bank account. Not a good person by any means, but he's no Norman "give Otto's ex-girlfriend AIDS" Osborn either.

I know Norman's both an insane goblin man and also a wealthy white dude living in modern day America so it's not surprising he's absolutely evil but at this point it's just cartoonish. Even literal puppy kicker Cobra Commander looks at him and goes "Your're trying too hard Ossssssborn"

Shocker tho?

He's just a guy trying to make a living doing what he's best at. Which just happens to be using vibrating gauntlets to rob banks and fight Spider-Men
