I know that this is sort of a soft reboot for Shang-Chi, but it's still weird to see Tony act as if he doesn't know Shang very well when he was the one to invite him to the Avengers back in Hickman's run.
I really think he is, and it does make sense. Between the way the MCU has basically enshrined him as the first superhero of the Marvel U and the fact that the most surface level reading/characterization of him is "jackass rich guy in armor," he's the perfect recognizable character to show up and get clowned on by the hero as they outwit or otherwise defeat him.
Tony, you’re probably the last person who should be pointing fingers on the whole “I think this organization you’re leading is up to some shady stuff” front. You were a founding member of the Illuminati. How many evil AI have you built? (Is it more or less than Hank Pym at this point?) How many times has one of your companies been stolen or ruined by some villain who was right under his nose? You lost SHIELD to Norman freaking Osborn because half the people working for you were alien body snatchers.
Also, it really seems like a missed opportunity that we haven’t gotten an issue where Daredevil checks in on him. For a while in the 2000s assuming control of evil organizations and failing to turn them into a force for good was Matt’s whole thing.
Granted Shang-Chi has even more in common with Jimmy Woo (former secret agent, took over father’s evil empire, ect) but I’m guessing that putting the Agents of Atlas on the cover isn’t gonna move a bunch of copies.
Next up is Thor and … actually Odin is a terrible dad and Thor totally gets having a complicated relationship with your siblings and being thrust into leadership positions you don’t really want out of necessity. That could totally work.
I feel like the repulsor on the glove Shang-Chi chopped off wouldn't work. Tony's armor powers it. MAYBE it has a small residual charge left on it, but not enough to do any actual damage.
Depends on if the suit is nanotech armor like he was using a few years ago or not. I think the power of that is pretty evenly distributed. Of course, that also brings up the point of if the glove is controlled by the person wearing it, or the overall armor's OS.
Unless - No Prize - Tony had assumed that Shang Chi would have some way of cutting his suit's central power and so made each system independently powered so a single strike wouldn't render the entire suit useless.
